Kent State Anti-War Committee is putting out a call for a mass hunger strike on college campuses in opposition to the war on Iraq. We ask your group to help organize for this hunger strike on your campus and in your area. This will be a powerful demonstration that students nationwide are taking a stance against the war.

Reasons for staging this hunger strike:

--to exemplify our strong opposition to an unjustified, unilateral invasion of Iraq by the U.S.
--to show support for Iraqi people who may go for days without eating or even starve to death due to U.S.-led economic sanctions.
--to show that we are willing to sacrifice our needs to bring attention to the suffering of the Iraqi people

The hunger strike is scheduled for March 6th and 7th. Please forward this e-mail widely and spread the word to campuses in your area so that this can be an international effort to resist the war on Iraq.

In organizing the hunger strike at your campus, let everyone know about the action you are taking and why you are taking it. Contact your local or campus media. Set up a table and pass out fliers. Wear ribbons, patches, or pins to let everyone you come in contact with that day know you on hunger strike against the war. Also, end the hunger strike with some type of demonstration or gathering. Stage a protest on your campus or in your area, have a potluck
open to the public at which the issue of war on Iraq can be discussed, bring a speaker to speak in opposition to the war, or organize any other event that will spread anti-war sentiment.

We in the anti-war movement realize that everyone may be coming from different perspectives and oppose the war for various reasons, but it is necessary to build the broadest coalition possible to effectively resist the war on Iraq. We encourage you to organize with all groups on your campus or in your area that oppose the war.
