This tutorial will explain to you how to create objects with total transparency or partial opacity.  eg. railings with transparencies and glass with opacity.

Transparencies: windows, ladders, etc...

Create your object and texture it.  For this tutorial, we will use the {RAIL1C texture.  Note: all see-thru textures begin with the parentheses: {.

Now, turn it into a solid entity by hitting the [toEntity] button.  In the Object Properties window which appears, select under the Class list, func_wall.  Select Render Mode and select from it's dropdown menu, Solid.

Then, go to FX Amount and put in a value of 255.  There, your see-thru railing is complete!  Wasn't that a synch?

Opacities: Foggy glass, water, etc...

Create your opaque object and texture it!  For this tutorial, we will use a nice glass pane, textured with the "GLASSBLUE1" texture.  Note: all glass textures are named with "GLASS" in it, so if you filter in WorldCraft's texture browser for "GLASS", it should come up with every single glass texture.

Now, hit [toEntity] and make it a func_wall.  Make it's render mode texture, and give it an FX Amount of any number between 0 and 255.  0 is totally non-see-thru, and 255 is totally see-thru, so give it something in between and it'll be partially see-thru, otherwise known as opaque.

Once you've got that all setup, your opaque window is ready to go!  Have fun with it 'cause you'll be using those a lot.

There ya go folks!  Enjoy.
