After springing onto the scene during Australian Idol 2003, Joel Turner, joined by The Modern Day Poets (his brother Dub LT and their cousin C4) have been in the spotlight non-stop and have been the voice of many kids around Australia. The haunting single "These Kids" was written from personal experience by the group and debuted at #1 on the ARIA singles chart. The single finished 2004 as #8 best selling single, but more importantly, Joel was the most successful Australian singer songwriter in the singles chart last year.

With "These Kids" already selling double platinum and the album selling gold, the eagerly awaited second single from Joel Turner and the Modern Day Poets' debut album was released. "Knock You Out" peaked in the top 20 of the Australian ARIAnet singles chart in 2005. The song features Joel's trademark beat boxing, and a rap from the one and only Anthony Mundine, all built around the classic riff from 'Eye Of The Tiger'. A number of other singles, taken from the album have also charted successfully, the latest being "Respect" released in October.

Throughout 2005 Joel continued to appear on many television shows and in many magazines (including WHO magazine's list of most interesting people of the year). The album has continued to chart successfully for Joel and MDP, now at Platinum sales status.

In September 05 Joel took out the title of World Beatbox Champion in Germany and was nominated for three ARIAS. Joel and MDP continue to tour relentlessly and are soon to release their second album.

Jade MacRae

Title You Make Me Weak
Artist Jade MacRae
Writers Jade MacRae/Israel Cruz*
Publisher Sony/ATV Music Publishing (Aust) Pty Ltd*

Jade MacRae is proving herself to be one of the great soul singers in this country. Growing up with musical parents, Jade learnt to play the piano at age three, and went on to play the violin at eight. Jade completed her HSC at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and paid her way through school by singing with whoever needed a good solid vocalist. Apart from singing her own songs in a band, Jade played pub gigs with Jackie Orszaczky and Renee Geyer, did session work with Disco Montego, Endorphin and Pnau, and toured with Jimmy Barnes.

UK producer/DJ Ian Pooley, invited Jade to sing on his dance track "Heaven", which was a #1 dance record in Germany. Jade then teamed up with Michael Hegerty from Workstation records, and they worked on the demos with producers, including Melbourne wunderkind Israel, Jarrad Rogers and LA-based Warren Campbell (Mary Mary) and White Chocolate (Brandy, Destiny's Child).

The stunning demo tracks lead to major label interest, with Roadshow Music signing her to the label in mid 2004. Almost all of the tracks on her self titled debut album are written by Jade herself and she co-wrote the remainder, proving herself not only an accomplished performer but a gifted songwriter as well. Her debut album has so far spawned two highly successful releases "You Make Me Weak" and "So Hot Right Now", with the second single being nominated at the 2005 ARIA Awards for Best Urban Release and also nominated for an MTV Music Award.

Jade was invited to tour with Australian Idol Guy Sebastian, US superstar Nelly, America's breakthrough artist in 2005 John Legend, and the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Immediately following her performance, James Brown sent his manager 'Super Frank' to tell Jade; ''Mr Brown sent me to tell you that he was listening, and he liked what he heard. You have 'it'."
