On October 11, Governor Kenny Guinn took
part in the dedication and ribbon
cutting ceremony for the Department of
Employment, Training and
Rehabilitation's new Las Vegas building,
named
in honor of Stanley P. Jones,
who served as Nevada's Labor
Commissioner from 1967-1979 and as
director and administrator for the
Employment Security Department from
1983-2000. DETR's new
building,
located at 2888 East St. Louis
Ave.,allows for
offices scattered throughout the Las
Vegas Valley to
be encompassed in one site, along with
providing
for future growth of the department.

STATE OFFERS
ASSISTANCE IN DEVELOPMENT OF ROADLESS AREA PLANNING
CARSON CITY - Gov. Kenny Guinn has sent a letter
to United States Forest Service (USFS) Supervisor Ed
Monnig offering the state’s ongoing participation in
the USFS’s efforts to comply with the federal
government’s Roadless Area Conservation Rule,
adopted in 2000 during President Bill Clinton’s
administration to conserve large portions of
unprotected areas of National Forest primarily in
the western United States.

PUBLIC INVITED
TO CHILI FEED ON
NEVADA DAY WEEKEND
CARSON CITY – Gov. Kenny Guinn, First Lady Dema
Guinn, and State Treasurer Brian Krolicki will host
the Annual Chili Feed upstairs at the Carson Nugget,
from noon to 2:00 PM, following the Nevada Day
Parade on Saturday, October 28.
