Some key casting news has been announced - confirmed by the BBC's Official Doctor Who site yesterday afternoon and broken as news in The Mirror and The Sun.
But who is it? Well, in brief, we're looking at appearances from Marc Warren - best known as Danny Blue in the BBC drama "Hustle" - as well as Scottish actress Shirley Henderson ("Trainspotting", "Bridget Jones' Diary").
Both actors will, according to The Sun, be appearing in the tenth episode of the new series, which also features Peter Kay and is rumoured to feature the Blue Peter Design a Monster competition winning entry, The Absorbaloff.
The Sun's "BBC Insider" (is this always the same person? Surely they should number them?) says of Henderson's casting:
Her character Ursula is a human, and very much a good person, whose world collides with the Doctor’s and she gets involved in things of which she has absolutely no knowledge.
Elsewhere Sunday paper The Sunday Mail talks with "No Angels" star Louise Delamere who once shared a flat with David Tennant. That's not the point of the interview howver, the topic under discussion is the upcoming dramatisation of the obscenity trial that took place bannig publication DH Lawrence's book Lady Chatterley's Lover, which David Tennant will appear in.
And icwales.co.uk reports how Russell T Davies was unsure about casting Billie Piper, and how no nudity will appear in the show:
"It was a bit like casting Britney Spears, and then we auditioned her and discovered she was brilliant."
And Davies has ruled out nudity in the new series, adding: "If you want to just get silly with it, you might as well go and see a flasher movie."
So no "Rose Does Ravolox" then. Damn.
