NBC Universal, the parent company of SCI FI Channel and SCIFI.COM, and News Corp. joined forces March 22 with several major Internet companies to distribute TV shows, video clips and movies online in an effort to better control their programming and counter competition from YouTube, the Associated Press reported; the new network will launch this summer.

Gabrielle Union, Ed Helms and Elizabeth Banks are joining Eddie Murphy's crew in Starship Dave, an SF comedy for 20th Century Fox, which begins shooting in the next few weeks, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
