MEDIANEWS GROUP INC.: The nation's fourth-largest newspaper chain said Wednesday that second-quarter net income more than doubled, in part because of recent acquisitions. MediaNews owns 50 daily newspapers nationwide, including the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner and the Kodiak Daily Mirror, as well as the local CBS television affiliate in Anchorage, KTVA Channel 11.

The center includes 12 car washes and 16 fueling and cleaning stations. A 20,000-square-foot customer service lobby will be connected to the airport terminal by a tunnel. Alaska Airlines pilot Jeff Latta's neighborhood is called Sky Ranch, an upscale, gated community just outside Palmer between the state fairgrounds and the northern banks of the Matanuska River. And as he demonstrated on his recent drive-and-nod tour, the neighborhood is home to a striking number of airline pilots. At the center of the development is a 2,000-foot airstrip making Sky Ranch one of the few true fly-in, fly-out neighborhoods in Southcentral Alaska.
