FRIENDS

Blues Traveler has taken exceptional steps to support our work. We are incredibly grateful to them and to their management team for all past and future support. Catch them on tour late Spring and at Bonnaroo.

"While best known for brilliant musicianship and prolific touring, witty and engaging songwriting has always been the band's calling card (the Grammy winning single "Run Around" still holds the record for longest-charting single ever in the history of the Billboard charts). Blues Traveler's uncanny connection with their huge grassroots fan base has made them one of the most consistently successful bands of the past 15 years. Including their worldwide breakout "four," certified six-times platinum in the U.S., the band has had a total of six gold or platinum releases and sales of over 10 million albums to date."

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are a Hammond B-3 organ-fueled blues-rock quartet with a panache for music from decades past. The band's stirring blend of talent and hard work has earned them a loyal and rapidly expanding audience throughout the U.S. The quartet is led by 22-year-old phenomenon Grace Potter, whose vocal chops have drawn comparisons to legends like Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin, while her scintillating work behind the B-3 conjures up visions of Stevie Winwood, Garth Hudson and Billy Preston. Potter's musical soulmates, the Nocturnals, are Scott Tournet (lead guitar, harmonica, vocals), Bryan Dondero (upright/electric bass) and Matthew Burr (drums/percussion). Thanks to Grace and the boys for pairing with us this summer-we look forward to working with them again!
Guster has a hint of They Might Be Giants in their music style; a bizarre folk/pop hybrid, and their loyal grassroots support, this US trio, originally known as Gus, formed in 1992. The members, Adam Gardner (vocals/guitar), Brian Rosenworcel (percussion) and Ryan Miller (vocals/guitar), met while studying at Tufts University in Boston. The unusual line-up, incorporating two acoustic guitars and Rosenworcel's bongos, attracted a dedicated live following in the Boston area. The uniqueness of this band is inarguable: for example, Rosenworcel (affectionately dubbed "Thundergod" by fans) plays live shows using only his bare hands and occasionally Gardner will play a downtuned guitar as a bass instrument. Guster's sound is also defined by their vocal harmonies, with both Miller and Gardner singing lead vocals on different songs; in "What You Wish For," all three members sing different lyrics simultaneously. With the release of "Keep it Together", Guster added Joe Pisapia (bass, guitar, keyboards, banjo, harmonica, backup vocals).

Guster is unique in their connection with their fans. The band regularly updates a road journal (primarily written by Rosenworcel) on their website and can often be found after shows for autographs. They have been an extraordinary addition to the RFAR family, and we look forward to working with them again and again.
Jason Mraz was RFAR's earliest supporter, and we will never forget the humor, affection and support we received from both Jason and his band. We continue to support Jason and his attempts to better the world through several methods of charitable work. Check him out on tour and see what good works he's got cooking up.

"In early 2002, Mraz signed to Elektra Records and returned to Virginia to write and record his debut album, working with producer John Alagía (the Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer) and his high school heroes, the Agents of Good Roots, as his backing band. The resulting effort, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, was released in November of 2002. It blended Mraz's early influences and coming-of-age sensibilities with country, roots rock, the poeticism of coffeehouse folk, elements of jazz, and hip-hop's rhythmic charge. The buoyant first single "Remedy [I Won't Worry]" (co-written by Mraz with pop hitmakers the Matrix) was a hit, and Mraz headed out on the road to support it. One of those shows, an October 2003 date at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, became Mraz' summer 2004 live release Tonight, Not Again. It tided his fans over until July 2005, when he returned with the sophomore studio effort Mr. A-Z." Christina Saraceno, All Music Guide"
Letitia Wallace is a wacky, wild and talented graphic designer and photographer based in Providence, RI. She works in the creative department for the hospitality industry's leading provider of integrated media systems where she designs multimedia solutions for international luxury hotels. Her out-going flair and love for music shines when she not only photographs, but also designs promotional materials for bands and concerts, including Todd Martin, Matt Nathanson, Blu Sanders and of course, Rock for a Remedy.
Matt Nathanson is a rocktastic supporter of RFAR, and has been for over 2 years. We at RFAR perpetually look forward to every opportunity to work with Matt and his fans.

"Irrepressible singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson doesn't just own the stage. He makes it his bitch. Acerbic, self-aware and irreverent, Nathanson sings beautifully cathartic songs that threaten to break your heart and then, just when you need it most, says something so wholly inappropriate, or recounts a hilarious story (often one that inspired a song) with such detail and candor, that you can't help but fall in love."

Matt's live "AT THE POINT" album is due to be released on April 4th, with a new full band studio album to follow this summer. Find them both. Thank us later.
Matt York's dedication to having Food Drives present at his awesome shows has been spectacular, and we adore working with someone so talented and generous. RFAR expects big things from Matt, and we look forward to sticking around for the ride.

Born into a family of musicians, it was inevitable that Matt York was going to be doing something in music. As a young kid growing up in Oakville, Ontario, Matt was always singing around the house, serenading the family with old R&B tunes around the supper table. Singing was always Matt's passion, and he decided to add another aspect to his music by picking up the guitar when he was 14. After his first lesson from his dad, he knew there was no turning back. He began to play around his hometown in coffee houses and parks with his friends drawing crowds from the local schools. Matt continued to jam his soulful tunes with his buddies from high school eventually forming his first band, Further Still. He continued to impress fans everywhere he played and evolved into a serious musician whose name became known all around the Toronto circuit. In 2003 Matt released his first EP selling almost 8000 copies, the release proved to be more than Matt had hoped for, bringing his unique style and refreshing message into the spotlight.

From coffee houses to concert halls, Toronto's Matt York has not only gained recognition as one of Canada's hottest young artists, but has been wowing audiences across the globe with his soulfully fresh style of acoustic funk. After the successful release of his 2003 EP, Matt was ready to step it up a bit, and step it up he did with his new full-length release Under The Streetlights.
Reverb is a project of the nonprofit organization ARIA Foundation (Artistic Resources In Action). Reverb's aim is to raise awareness and support for the environment by connecting touring bands and their fan-base to environmental issues and organizations via an interactive eco-village. Reverb is a unique organization because it works to magnify environmental change through offering unparalleled participation opportunities to local and national non-profits and green businesses. Through this collaborative model, groups whose issues have little exposure are given a much larger venue in which to share their message and connect with local fans and each other. This connection and interaction can be a powerful experience for both the organization and fan.
Train's studio albums--beginning with 1998's self-titled debut and carrying on through Drops Of Jupiter and My Private Nation--has achieved RIAA platinum status or better while generating a string of hit singles that touched the lives of the group's fans in profound and powerful ways: "Free," "Meet Virginia," "I Am," "Drops Of Jupiter," "Something More," "She's On Fire," "Calling All Angels," "Ordinary," "When I Look To The Sky," "Get To Me." Playing literally hundreds of shows for thousands upon thousands of fans since forming in San Francisco in 1994, Train earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the nation's hottest live bands. Train's enthusiasm for the work RFAR does was awesome, and we can't wait until next time!
