    [...] Just downloaded, installed and configured a new plugin for Wordpress. It’s called SH-Autolink. It basically takes pre-configured key words (like Wordpress) and makes the key word into a link to a web site. I used to use a program called phpGiggle (written by a co-worker, actually) but it didn’t get some of the words and was harder to configure to get it to work. It was also what is called a Wordpress hack whereas SH-Autolink is a Wordpress plugin. This is a great addition to the plugins I currently use. The plugins I currently use are: Auto-Close Comments, Blogroll Update, Category Image(s), Countdown, Content Show/Hide, Gravatar, Iimage Browser, Random Quote of the Day, Easy Post-To-Post Links, Recent Comments, Recent Posts, SH-Autolink, Spam Karma 2, Spam Karma 2 Stats, and WP Contact Form. I also use the WP Admin plugins SpotMilk (what I am currently using), SpotPress, and Tiger Style Administration. [...]

    [...] Wie es die treuen Leser bereits bemerkt haben, hat sich mein Blog in den letzten Tag optische leicht verändert. Und nicht nur optisch hat sich etwas getan…. Ich habe auf die Wordpress-Version 2.0.3 aktualisiert. Da die Version 2.0 ein reines Features-Update darstellte, habe ich zum Release-Zeitpunkt mein Blog nicht aktualisiert, die neuen Features mich nicht interessierten. Zum Bilderhochladen habe ich seit eh her das IImageBrowser-Plugin eingesetzt und die neue AJAX-Adminoberfläche ist, in meinen Augen, auch ehr spielerei als nützlich. Die Version 2.0.3 behebt nun aber auch einige Sicherheitslücken, was für mich ein Grund war über ein Update nachzudenken. Nachdem ich bereits an meinem heimischem Testsystem ein erfolgreiches Update meines Blogs von 1.5 auf 2.0 durchgeführt habe, habe ich nun auch mein Online-Blog aktualisiert. Zum Updaten habe ich die lokalisierte Version von Wordpress 2.0 verwendet. Das Standarttheme habe ich einwenig angepasst und einen minimalistischen PHP-Counter eingebaut. Im Adminbereich kommt jetzt nicht mehr das Wordtunes-Admin-Theme zum Einsatz (die Version für WP2.0 ist nicht mehr so übersichtliche wie die für WP1.5) sondern ein leicht angepasstes SpotMilk-Admin-Theme. Des Weiteren werden zukünfig alle extern verlinken Seiten im selben Fenster geöffnet. Screenshots vom SpotMilk-Admin-Theme: www.ceprix.net [...]

Da Michael Wöhrer vor einigen Tagen das Simple Tagging Plugin veröffentlicht hat, habe ich mich entschlossen, meine Artikel zukünftig auch mit so genannten Tags (Stichwörtern) zu versehen. Alle bereits veröffentlichen Artikel wurden nachträglich mit Tags versehen. So findet man ab sofort auch im BETAcarotin Blog eine TagCloud. Da zur Einrichtung des Plugins auch Anpassungen am Theme notwendig waren, habe ich diese Gelegenheit genutzt und gleich den kompletten Artikel-Meta-Bereich umgestaltet. Eine übersichtliche Tabelle zeigt nun, unter jedem Artikel, relevante Daten und Artikel, welche mit diesem verwandt sind. Außerdem wurde das Blog auf die aktuelle Wordpress-Version 2.1 aktualisiert. Leider verlief das Update nicht ohne Fehler. Mit etwas „basteln“ konnten die Probleme allerdings behoben werden. Im Zuge des Updates musste auch das IImage Browser- sowie das SpotMilk-Plugin aktualisiert werden. [...]

A világoskék változat annyira nekem nem tetszik, régebben már próbáltam, de a fekete admin felület nagyon jól mutat és sokkal átláthatóbb szerintem. I also got the FIickrRSS which lets you show a stream of photos, you can see that on the bottom of my page. It’s super pretty and quickly shows my photo updates and I don’t have to create a photoblog or anything. If you want to know more about these plugins then just ask and I’ll see what I can do. A világoskék változat annyira nekem nem tetszik, régebben már próbáltam, de a fekete admin felület ( BlackMilk ) nagyon jól mutat és sokkal átláthatóbb szerintem. A telepítés menete a szokásos, plugin letöltés, feltöltés a pluginek mappába, plugin aktiválás. Egy apró módosítást kell még végrehajtani a spotmilk.php -ban, ha a fekete admin felületet szeretnénk használni. A 16. sorban ki kell törölni a ”/*” részt a sor elején és ”*/” részt a sor végén. Nagyon pofás a fekete adminfelület. A plugin letölthető közvetlenül innen. Címkék: plugin web wordpress [...]

I am using the black version of the theme included within the same archive, which can be activated by uncommenting a single line in the theme file.     I’ve fixed the name of the author. I didn’t know about the section, either. Found it, quite by chance. I’ve checked the other designs there, and decided to stick to ‘SpotMilk’. ‘SpotPress’, also looked quite nice, but it works as a plugin, and I’m not sure if I want a ‘plugin’ for the design of my admin page.

    Yeah, the last update is really minor, and you will barely see the differences. I was going to modify CSS related to Dashboard page a bit more, but I left it nearly unchanged after all. The current theme is pretty usable and I don’t want to make it different from the default theme in terms of its layout. Enjoy using it while you can.

    There are other quality admin themes too. I wouldn’t say SpotMilk is the best, but it’s meant to be compatible with various browsers (Safari, Firefox, Opera, and IE, etc) and not break out the default layout.

If your plugin folder is named spotmilk-1.3 or spotmilk-1.5, please rename it to spotmilk. That should work.     The plugin doesn’t affect that at all. It’s probably due to the browser you’re using.
    Basically, the visual rich editor doesn’t work on Safari (or WebKit-based browsers), but works on Firefox, Camino (or Gecko-based browsers) and IE.
    Also, it can be turned on or off under the Users menu.

    Chris – you should be able (in theory) to use the stand-alone drop down menu plugin and SpotMilk together. OK – you will need to do some CSS fiddling but that shouldn’t be too difficult to handle. Try it with the drop down plugin only , not the theme.

    This is the best admin skin for WordPress I’ve ever seen, waaay better than the Tiger admin panel. It works great, and looks great!

    I’m using SpotMilk v1.5 on WordPress 2.0.1, everything works fine. I’m currently using it for my site and will also be using it for all my future projects.

    There is just one very minor issue you may want to take a look at, though.

    Everything works perfectly in Firefox, and although I share your hatred for Internet Explorer, a lot of people do use Internet Explorer (sadly) to update their WordPress blogs. If you log in to the Admin panel using Internet Explorer, the ‘Sign Out’ link on the header isn’t visible. Thought I’d let you know.

    You’re probably using v1.7b on WP2, aren’t you? This version has redesigned “View Site” and “Sign Out” links. I’ve also noticed that the “Sign Out” link is invisible in IE6, and it’s due to its poor support for some advanced CSS. It should be visible in IE7, I assume.

    Since I don’t own a PC, I first check out a new version of the plugin in Safari, Firefox and Opera on my Mac at home, and then I debug it in IE6 on PC at work. As you know, v1.7 is still a beta, and the issue you mentioned will be fixed in the final version.

    I am working on a project where i have multiple WP sites set up on the same server using the same DB. Each install has different table prefixes (although im not sure why this matters for this problem).

    My first install is running spotmilk perfectly in the hoaclientaccess.com/kenwoodforest directory. my second install, when i go to active spotmilk from plugins.php I get the following error.

    then when i browse to the front end of the site, i get this error at the very top of the page.

    then any further navigation causes the site to break compeletely and i have to rename spotmilk.php in the plugins directory to restore funcationality. Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated. thank you very much for an excellent plugin.

    I’ll be releasing the next version (v1.7.1), which fixes the problems, as early as this weekend. Thanks for pointing that out.

    josh: I guess that’s probably due to other plugins.
    Try to deactivate all the plugins you have, and activate the SpotMilk plugin solely.
    If the plugin works, check out other plugins by activating one by one.

    lgy: Yup, the main menu doesn’t wrap to the next line because if it does, it’d look pretty messed up with background images. If you’d like to make it wrap, though, you can change it in spotmilk.css.
    Look for #adminmenu {...} and change white-space: nowrap; to white-space: normal;

    I love this theme but can someone tell me how to return the whole “user info” section back to the top of the dashboard? Every time I try to enable it it messes up the CSS and the buttons on the menu disappear along with other CSS problems.      Daniel: I don’t think you noticed it, but I dropped support for the login/register page.
     The default login/register page that comes with WP 2.1 is pretty good enough, and it doesn’t have to be differently styled, I think.

     ceprix: I think I’ve encountered a bug in v2 for WP 2.1. I’ve been writing a plugin which hooks into the edit_post, publish_post and edit_comment action hooks and been banging my head against a brick wall because they never seemed to fire from the admin pages. Eventually I tried disabling spotmilk and suddenly everything worked. Things are also fine with spotmilk under Firefox. All the trouble is with Internet Explorer v 7 and spotmilk.

     BTW—I do like spotmilk and would love to continue using it. Thanks.

     I have some bad news. I found a “bug” in your theme, which I was able to fix quite easily.
     The problem started when you added support for the NEW Vista Font set.

     What Works:
     Vista user using current version of the plugin. Everything is fine
     Windows XP user running Office 2003 or older works fine.

     What doesn’t work:
     Windows XP user with Office 2007 installed!!!

     I recently upgraded my Office 2003 to 2007 on my XP machine and when I logged into my admin panel noticed that all the fonts were blurry and too small to read. I rechecked the issue on another computer with XP and same browser still running 2003 and it was fine. What happened is that the new office installed some new Vista font sets which XP doesn’t render properly. Therefore since the font was included in the CSS before the older XP fonts. The browser is choosing to display the Vista fonts on XP machines who have the fonts installed. I don’t know the best solution to fixing this problem, but I was able to solve it from my system by removing the “Helvetica Neue”, Corbel, “Lucida Grande”, and Candara from the CSS!

     I’ve cleared the cache in Safari and still get the delay. The upshot is that I get no such delay in Firefox. So maybe it’s just a Safari thing. Ah well… it’s still an excellent theme. I just didn’t want it marred by the slightest hint of that marvelously ugly default theme.
