Nottingham suffered a home defeat at the hands of visiting Belfast. A goal on the powerplay from Joe Cardarelli at 15.54 gave Panthers the lead, but this was to be their only scoring shot of the night. Giants responded swiftly with a goal from Marc Levers to put them on level terms at the break. In the second period, two power play goals, first from Rob Stewart and then from Jason Ruff, saw the visitors pull further ahead. Towards the end of the period Matt Reid received a game penalty for misconduct. With five minutes to go in the 3rd period, George Awada ensured a 4-1 win for Belfast.

Newcastle notched up their second success of the weekend with a 2-0 win over Basingstoke. The first goal came after only 55 seconds when Matus Petricko found the net. Nine minutes later Petricko struck again. These were to prove the only scoring shots of the night, with Trevor Koenig in the Vipers goal achieving a 27 shot shut out. An incident in the 32nd minute led to game penalties for Newcastle?s Andre Payette and Basingstoke?s Michael Wales and Ryan O?Keefe.

London Racers avenged their Saturday night home defeat with a win in Coventry in their Challenge Cup group game. Blaze scored first with a goal at 2.24 from Russell Cowley. It took only 90 seconds for the visitors to equalise, through Duncan Dalmao, and then the game was without further score until the 53rd minute when, with Blaze?s Graham Belak ejected from the game for misconduct, a powerplay goal from Jason Hewitt gave the visitors the points.

There were plenty of goals in Edinburgh, where Capitals took on Cardiff Devils. The home side scored first after 47 seconds, but a short handed goal from Louis Goulet put the visitors back on level terms. Goals from Ed Patterson and Regan Darby put Cardiff ahead, but Edinburgh pulled back to 3-3. Gerard Adams put Devils in front again with a short-hander and then Vezio Sacratini and Brad Voth increased their lead.. At 49.22 Edinburgh?s Frederik Oduya was ejected from the game for headbutting. A powerplay goal from Goulet came at 52.19, but two quick Edinburgh goals went some way to closing the gap. With the score at 7-5 to Cardiff, Patterson secured the win with his second of the night.
