BBIA 2009 shortlists
THIS YEAR'S SHORTLISTS for the coveted British Book Industry Awards - the Nibbies - were announced at a packed reception at the London Book Fair. Richard Cable, Managing Director of CCV, the current Publisher of the Year, announced this year's contenders for the highly sought after Nibbies and commented on the fantastic quality of the shortlists based on voting by the Academy of the British Book Awards. Jo Henry, Managing Director of Publishing News, organisers of the British Book Awards, said: "For the past 20 years, the Industry Awards have showcased the very best of British publishing and bookselling; it's a great opportunity to reward those who work so hard in all sectors of the industry to produce and market the very best books, and those shortlisted appreciate the honour of being nominated and voted for by their peers. It's particularly appropriate that we can announce these shortlists at the London Book Fair, where visitors can see the very best that British publishing and bookselling has to offer."
