Burhanpur: Burhanpur on the Itarsi-Bhusuwal line is 200 km from Indore, 69 from Khandwa, 337 from Bhopal and 99 km from Jalgaon-. The rail route from Indore to Burhanpur goes via Khandwa. Buses too ply between Burhanpur and Indore and other cities of the state as well as the neighbouring states. Burhanpur is associated with the last days of the empress of India, Mumtaz, who was buried here. Later, however, hear mortal remains were moved to Agra and the Taj was built as her cenotaph. Today, the prime attraction of Burhanpur is the fort and palace built by Miran Adil Shah Faruki. The bathroom built in the Iranian style with glass and coloured tiles and beautifully decorated is a lovely sight. The energetic can visit by bus Asirgarh fort, the historically celebrated town of magical archaeology, 20 km away from Burhanpur.
