Each week Houstonist checks out the Missed Connections on Craiglist. Here's a few that we found interesting.

My silence (estoy calmado) - m4w - 35 (katy/mason rd.)

My feelings have never changed, throughout the entire time, including the bumpy spots. I am very saddened that things are as they are now. I am allowing time to pass in hopes that it will bring you clarity, hopefully in my favor. I hope that there is not another in your life already. If not, I will be here, loving you from afar, as I have had to do before.
It's time to up the antibiotics or get a new doctor when you lose feeling in the bumpy spots.

heather (fatty) Michelle (bigfoot) Shan (she-male)

Yall are busted and i will be pressing charges, get ready for the police to contact you= Big fat UGLY LOSERS!
Don't sweat it. Stuart got busted, too.

Garrett on-board the Space Station - 30 (Encinitas, CA)

The other night you had me in stitches! I saw you on the Colbert Report, and then again on the NASA channel dining with your Russian friends; your smile kills! Thank you so much for making me laugh out loud ~ My cheeks hurt just thinking of you!

We're keepin' it warm down here on tha beach for ya!

Houstonist to Garrett. Come in, Garrett. Get the shuttle to land at Edwards when you leave that floating tin can. There's a hottie out in Cali who wants to scope your rocket. Beware of cavitation shock waves.

Montrose Area Midrise - 22 (Midtown/montrose)

You live in my building. I saw you checking me out in my schoolgirl style skirt the other night. It'd be so convenient for late night hookups. Send me an email.
I could use a sex buddy.
Hey, lady. Houstonist can be discreet. We'll haunt your dreams.

In the face of overwhelmingly negative feedback from the Houston community regarding the use of public funds to construct a soccer-specific stadium on the east side of downtown, hardcore Houston Dynamo fans have literally put their money where their mouths are.

The championship soccer club's owners, Anschutz Entertainment Group, have repeatedly solicited public funds from the city of Houston to defray the cost of building the stadium, a controversial request in a city whose taxpayers have helped to fund the construction of three other major league sports stadiums within the past ten years. And in a move that further alienated public support, Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber sent a letter to Dynamo owners in April threatening to remove the club from Houston entirely if they could not secure a stadium.

Passionate soccer fans are not easily swayed, however. Eager to keep a team that has brought Houston two back-to-back championships and encourage the growth of a sport that is monumentally popular throughout the rest of the world, Dynamo fans are rallying together.

A group of supporters calling themslves "Home for the Dynamo" have recently begun a grassroots effort to raise money from the private sector — primarily from Dynamo fans — in an unusual bid to provide some of the funds for the stadium themselves. At their website, fans are encouraged to both donate money to the organization as well as contact Mayor Bill White to voice their support for the construction of a stadium for the two-time MLS Cup winners. A donation of $4.99 nets patrons an orange "Home for the Dynamo" bumper sticker (pictured above).

It is unclear how much money would need to be raised in order for this ambitious project to be considered successful, but the estimated total cost for the construction of the stadium is currently at $105 million, which is an increase from the initial estimate of $80 million, due to rising materials costs.

According to the website:

We are dedicated to supporting the fight for a stadium with our checkbooks. Money is the issue at hand and we have chosen to try and raise as much money as possible for this cause. The purpose is to make it known to all who are involved that WE are going to act while THEY negotiate. No we dont think we will raise millions of dollars. That isnt the point. DOING SOMETHING instead of just talking IS THE POINT.

Expect more in coming weeks from "Home for the Dynamo" as the website (which only went live this morning) posts additional information regarding fundraising events, methods of donating, and additional content about the Houston Dynamo and its contributions to the local community.

Discovery Green- Golf Flag

I-SEEN-IT took this shot of the flag from the putting green at Discovery Green. That's right, Discovery Green has a putting green that is a great way to take a break from work, ease stress or end a lunch. So don't forget your putter!

The two biggest shows this week are up north in The Woodlands. Radiohead returns with their sold out show, supporting the fantastic In Rainbows album. The Police also come back to Houston (with Elvis Costello), as they wrap up a tour that many will say will be their last. Other shows not to miss: Old 97’s will perform in-store at Cactus Thursday after work, warming up for their full concert later this month. The...

Houstonist recognizes that not all stay-at-home moms (or dads) lose complete and total interest in pop culture. And, fortunately, so do the Alamo Drafthouse and the Angelika Film Center. Normally, the Alamo Drafthouse's policy strictly forbids any children under the age of 6 as well as unaccompanied children under the age of 18. However, every Tuesday the cinema hosts Baby Day, where your hip, movie-loving self and your children under the age of 6 are...

It's been a sad few months for those of us who grew up on local TV: Last summer, KTRK's Marvin Zindler died of pancreatic cancer, and today we heard that KPRC veteran Ron Stone has died at the age of 72. Stone, who spent more than 30 years on the air in Houston, also lost a battle with cancer. Stone anchored at KHOU before he moved to KPRC, where he manned the desk from 1972...

Monday's edition of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Houston Police Department has been moderately successful in their latest venture to stop crime by curbing…shopping cart theft. Apparently, Grand Theft Shopping Cart is much more of a social problem than we gave could have conceived. According to HPD’s South Central Patrol Division, putting a stop to shopping cart theft is the first step to stopping more serious crimes. And here we thought we should...
