Congress sit-in tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress party has decided to stage a dharna in front of the Secretariat on October 21 in support of the demand for establishing a High Court Bench in the State capital.

The dharna, under the auspices of the District Congress Committee (DCC), would coincide with a hartal called by the Action Committee for High Court Bench. A specially-convened meeting of the DCC office-bearers here proclaimed its moral support to the agitation and called on its workers in the capital to extend full support to the hartal.

In a statement here on Sunday, DCC president V.S. Shiva Kumar said the LDF was playing hide-and-seek on the issue as could be seen by its decision to dissociate itself from the hartal call. He said that the dharna was in protest against the State government’s failure to establish the basic infrastructure for setting up a High Court Bench.
