LeBron James named NBA Most Valuable Player
by Brian Windhorst/Plain Dealer Reporter
Monday May 04, 2009, 5:04 PM
UPDATED: 11:12 p.m.
Ten years ago, LeBron James started getting roars at St. Vincent-St. Mary's gym on the edge of downtown Akron. Monday he got one more huge ovation in a moment that can only be described as unforgettably unique.
James accepted the NBA Most Valuable Player Award, which he won in a landslide, on the same floor where he first became a star.
With his Cavaliers teammates and coaches in the crowd -- which was stocked with family members, former teachers, former coaches, longtime friends and hundreds of current students -- James accepted the award with humility. Well, as much humility that can come with arriving at his old school in a Ferrari with a police escort.
But before he got there, he drove through his old neighborhood and took the same route he took to school as a teen. The trip seemed faster this time, almost as speedy as his rise from phenom to the highest individual honor in the sport.
At midseason, the MVP looked like a three-way race between James, Lakers' star Kobe Bryant and Heat star Dwyane Wade. As the Cavs surged to the finish behind James -- who won four Player of the Month Awards to tie a single-season record -- to 66 wins, it quickly became lopsided. James received 109 of the possible 121 first-place votes to record the sixth-largest victory margin in history.
Bryant finished second overall but had just two first-place votes. Wade was third but had seven first-place votes.
At a podium set up right below the state championship banner from his senior season in 2003, James thanked his current teammates and coaches, telling them "this award is going to be like the both of ours but I'm going to keep it at my house."
Then he thanked his longtime friends and former teammates and coaches, especially SVSM coach Dru Joyce. Talking about his team and swearing he wouldn't cry, James also spoke about his admiration for his mother.
"I'm 24 years old and I'm receiving this award, I never thought it would happen this fast," James said. "I never dreamed about being MVP, but if I said I didn't enjoy this award I'd be lying to you. Hard work pays off and dreams do come true."
To show extra attention to his teammates, James gave each a pricey camera in part to signify their "family portraits" that became a staple during the season. But he was quick to remind all of his bigger goals this season.
"I still I have a lot of things I want to do this season," James said. "I want to have another celebration in June."
It was James' choice to have the ceremony at SVSM. Normally players accept the award at practice facilities or home arenas. He will have another celebration before Tuesday's Game 1 in the conference semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks, where NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to be on hand to give him the Maurice Podoloff Trophy in front of a sellout at The Q.
So the TV trucks lined up along West Market Street in Akron and police directed traffic and dignitaries, business partners and media members got themselves to James' turf, the only place he could imagine getting the award.
"This is where I learned my dreams could come true really, there's not a better place," James said. "This school, I just graduated six years ago, this school helped me become the man I am today standing up here receiving this award."
With the trophy came an SUV from Kia, the NBA annual awards sponsor, which James immediately donated to the Akron Urban League.
"He's never forgotten where he came from," said James' mother, Gloria. "I'm very proud of him, it is long overdue and he's real deserving of it."
Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, who spoke to the crowd along with General Manager Danny Ferry, surveyed the scene and then tried to re-name the award.
"The 'P' stands for person, it goes beyond player," Gilbert said. "To a lot of people, he's a most valuable person. He gives to his team, his friends, the City of Akron, St. Vincent-St. Mary; he has given in so many ways."
See every linescore from LeBron's historic season in our LeBron James Statistical Bible.
Cleveland,
We are witnessing history right before us. This young man from Northeast Ohio is homegrown/talented/ and will eventually save the once struggling Cavalier franchise(maybe Cleveland's economy too).
Congrads Lebron, now lets get the Tribe and Brownies on board because there going down the toilet at an alarming rate.
MVP!!
See link, its explains why Cleveland is the best city EVER!
YEA LEBRON!! Way to go. This should be your 2nd or 3rd MVP award already, but it's OK, the voters are clueless.
Brian, keep up the good work. You're 100 times better than your predecessor - Branson Wright.
Whoo hoo - LeBron gets a Kia! (I think Kia would just be better off making a donation to a charity of the winner's choice.)
Congrats! And super, super-cool to have it at St. V/M.
No big surprise, but congrats to "The Chosen One" King James. While Mo Williams, Delonte West, Z, Andy V. and the bench were huge contributors, Lebron is the leader of this team and so richly deserves the credit for the 66 win season. Now lets get those 12 more wins for the NBA Championship!
Wine/Gold Sword Wielders,
LBJ has walked the walk when he talked the talk because he truly has lit up Cleveland like Vegas.
LBJ, You have exceeded what the Cavs could have hoped for when they drafted you and for that, now you have made NBA and Cav history once again!!!!!!
You said through TEAM success, will come individual accomplishments and recognition.......well your right again young man.
GO Cavs08-09!!!!!!
WAY TO GO KING JAMES, NOW GET THE SECOND MVP OF SEASON IN THE NBA FINALS. GOOOOOOOO CAVS ! ! !
No surprise though very exciting! Congrats LBJ... no where did all those crazy kobe fans go? :P
Congrats LeBron,
that is too funny that he gets a Kia...haha.
Maybe he can give it to his son to crash around the yard in.
Congratulations to LeBron, who continues to spread the BEST lessons learned from sports: hard work, focus, commitment, humility.
Here's hoping that this helps keep him in wine and gold for the rest of his career (as the best were also one-team players).
Why do I think there will be no photos of LeBron trying to squeeze into that Kia.
And what's up with the spamo iulia009?
Well-deserved and just the first of many... now it's time to grab that O'Brien trophy.
Tarblooder, It's they're or they are. Thanks for playing teach.
ShakerHts....Cleveland is the best city ever? You must not be talking about the one in Ohio.....
A great award for a deserving player.
The best part of all this? I have no worries whatsoever that LeBron will keep his focus on the real prize at hand. Onward and upward.
MVP locked up, time to get the championship...on a side note, a KIA? That should be given to the least valuable player...or biggest player in the league...Allen Iverson?
thats funny because stephen a smith is reporting that lebron is having the announcement at times square in nyc!
TarBlooder92,
I am a TarBlooder from '91(D.O.C) is how I was known. I Talk w/ Tony Boldware if you recognize either or both names, inform on this article and I'll direct you to get further re-established w other TarBlooders from either eastside and westside.
{One Goal,One TEAM,One Mission}--"Cavs08-09"
GO Cavs08-09!!!!!!!
Great news, and good job LBJ. My only question is, what the hell is Kia thinking? Do they honestly expect James to roll around in a Kia. That thing will be given away to a friend or a charity before he gets home.
No one deserves it more. Congradulations to him and his team mates, for what they have done this season. I am so proud of Lebron. God Bless.
Aerosfan24
Halarious! I was thinking exactly the same thing and scolled down to post it and there you were.
anywas - congrats LBJ.... Hopefully you will bring us home a title at long last this year! This definitely feels like it is the Cavs year this year.
FIRST ITS THE MVP TROPHY...NEXT ITS THE CHAMPIONSHIP RING!!
All Hail King James!
Go Cavs!! All the way to the title!!!
Did KIA build this car award special for Lebron?
Congrats to Lebron and to his team mates for an exceprional year!! Besides his ball hand, ing, shooting and defense, another HUGE asset of Lebron's is his humility. I have never heard him blurting out at the mouth about how good he is and I can understand the young man when he speaks!
He has finally earned the award with team success, after years of individual marks but only moderate team achievement.
I will, however, be angry if/when anyone besides LeBron and Dwight Howard gets a first-place vote. I'm looking at you, Wade.

Anyone who is a Knicks fan. LBJ is staying in Cleveland. If the Cavs go on to win the NBA Championship, Knicks fans can forget about LBJ ever coming to New York.
You think because your the Knicks and its New York that you can get just about anyone to join your organization. But the biggest doesn't mean your the best. Do you really think that LBJ would leave a place where he can win two or three championships now as opposed to going to NYC with the hope of winning one (so far down the line).
Here's a suggestion to the New York Knicks. Draft good players, hire a good coach, stop sexual harrassment of female employees and you too can have a winner.
Congratulations LeBron James you have really have shown the city, state, nba, and the whole sports world that we all are witnesses to greatness but as you and everyone else knows this is a great honor but we know what our goal is and that's an NBA Championship and to bring the trophy to the city of Cleveland
God Bless LeBron The City Of Cleveland Loves you!!!!!!
I was born and raised in Cleveland and I love my hometown. I moved to Florida in 2003 and have been listening to jokes about Cleveland, The Browns, Indians, Cavs and The Buckeyes since I got here. Kudos to The Cavs as well as LeBron.
It's our time now. Let's get this over with and bring it home......
All this energy's calling me
back where it comes from.
It's such a crude attitude,
its back where it belongs.
All the little chicks
with the crimson lips
go cleveland rocks,
Cleveland rocks.
Livin in sin
with the safety pin
go Cleveland rocks,
Cleveland rocks,
Cleveland rocks!
OHIO!
Go Cavs
Go Lebron
Dio Vindice
CONGRATS LEBRON!!!!
Don't stop there, NBA Championship is next!!!!
Big props to LB - he deserves the honor.
Would be kinda cool to see LB donate the Kia today to his old coach or the school to auction off.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THAT KOBE...MVP POSTER??? HIDING UNDER A ROCK MAYBE....HUMM? LEBRON HAS CHARACTER...KB DOES NOT. GOOD JOB LEBRON! GO CAVES
Great job LB. Maybe Mike Trivisano on WTAM finally got the message!!!
Congratulations Lebron and the Cavs family. Now let's win it all.
Nobody works as hard and is a leader like him. He deserves it.
Where's all the kobesnutswings at today?????
Still hanging on I imagine.....and the countdown continue's till kobeisdbag cries I want out of my contract again?????
How awesome is this? Best athlete since Jim Brown.
We really need to appreciate this since we may never see another like him. LBJ has put Cleveland back on the map. Now if we could get some of the expansion Clowns fans to get on board...
GO CAVS!
SO where are all of the "Kobe was going to win it" and other Kobe trolls at?
That's what I thought. You're eating crow. And alot of it. FATASSES!!!! Now, know your roll and STFU!
I just can't wait for the championship parade!!! i say it should be a state holiday...i'm planning on taking the day off!!!
Great job LBJ and team!!!
i
Worship your false Gods you pathetic wanna be athletes.

I HEAR A LOUD WAILING SOUND COMING FROM THE LEFT COAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WTG King, long deserved....It's about time all you voters came to your senses?
Now it's time to smash the Hawks!!!
LeBron, We are sooooo proud of you and your stance and are again just SOOOOOO proud of you! Of course I hope you never leave Cleveland, but for now thank you so for all you have done for Akron and Cleveland. It has been such a ride with you here... we dearly love all of our CAV'S this year !!!! you are an inspiration to so many of us here in Akron and Cleve...
THANK YOU LeBron and CO. !!!!
GOOD LUCK WITH Atlanta!!!
Louganis,
Dont be a hater. I know you haven't competed in any sport in your lifetime, so let the rest of us enjoy this while you continue to collect unemployment.
A well deserved honor for for first, a great person, and second a great basketball player. Lebron has not only led the Cavs to glory but has restored the faith of all Cleveland fans. He lives life to the fullest and provides the role model for our youth that has long been absent in our society. Congratulations Lebron and thanks for being who you are.
"Maybe he can give it to his son to crash around the yard in."
Funniest line I've heard in weeks! Nice job!
Well deserved lebron, congrats to you. Ive realized that only those players that put everything on the line for their teammates, their families, or the franchise are the true risktakers. there arent many of those in todays sports. It is however, the ingredients to bringing a championship to your city and a hell of a way to build your legacy. Your on the road to supremacy so good luck to you and your teammates keep them focused and prepared for the fight ahead.
I am a little confused...
Are they ANNOUNCING the award today at SVSM and the Stern gives him the trophy before the game tomorrow?
Congrats, LeBron!
You FINALLY are receiving some national recognition for what we Cavalier fans have known for years -- that you are THE most valuable player in pro basketball.
Thank you for displaying skill, toughness, grace and class as you have jumped into a team that was in a losing culture and helped lead the way to not only respectability, but also into the NBA's elite.
You have been able to exceed all the ridiculous hype & expectations that had preceded your arrival into the NBA, and now we are witnessing not only your individual greatness, but also a team and organization that is in a great position to win multiple NBA titles.
I hope you are a lifetime Cavalier who will always be honored as the single most important reason for the Cavaliers rise to an NBA dynasty, and that MJ will be the guy mentioned AFTER you in conversations . . . .
If there are any haters left who still think James is over-rated and over-hyped COME GET SOME!!!
Congrats Lebron!
Great job LBJ....but know of these MVP's won the NBA championship and the MVP the same year...hopefully that changes this year but...

The reason they give Kia's now is because they stop making those fine Yugo's Get this foreign crap outa here.
Awesome and well deserved! Go Cavs! The Browns are still a joke and will always will be. Stop the "Browns Town" mentality.
Kobeismvp hahahahahahahahaha i never respond to your useless comments but i read them all the time and this is great because we know who the true MVP is!!!!!!!!!
Congrats LeBron!!! Now bring home that big trophy!! Cleveland needs it baby!!!!! GO CAVVVSSSS!!!!
Congratulations to Lebron and all the CAVS, he couldn't have done it without his supporting cast. KUDOs to the Cities of Akron and Cleveland. A positive home grown image
I love it! Lebron deserves it, love that kobiemvp is eating all those stupid comments... now on to a championship! also wouldn't at all be surprised if Lebron put the kia up for a raffle and gave the money to charity, or just donated it outright to charity..he's a MVP in life too.
Go CAVS!!!!!
Pete Franlin stuffed the ballot box ! Cheaters .
Congrats Cleveland. Now the real pressure begins. It wont make a difference if they dont win the title. Good luck
Duncan won the MVP ad the champioship in 2003!
When is the press conference exactly??
WE ARE ALL WITNESSES! NIKE KNEW WHAT THE HELL THE WERE TALKING ABOUT. LEBRON IS TRULY "THE KING"
Congrats LeBron! You have shown nothing but class which is refreshing for someone who achieved so much at such a young age. You are to be applauded for setting an example of not expecting anything and working hard to be the best. You are more than the "best" basketball player. You are a quality person.
Hopefully, this is the icing on the cake for the year of the Cavs!
Hail to King James! Another 12 wins to reach the true goal.
Long live the King of C-Town!
LBJLouganis,Kobe4MVP,Lebum James,
There's always next year.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Maybe you guys should come up to the bar and I'll buy all of you a drink to cry into. Oh wait, you're all the same D-Bag.
We love it ... LeBron James named NBA MVP - http://tinyurl.com/cdox2s
This guy is looking more and more like someone that can lead us to multiple championships. LeBron, we salute and love you here. I have to admit, I had my doubts, by you are truly becoming the greatest sports player/figure in Ohio history.
Kosar, geezer Indians, or old fogie Browns players, James is greater than all combined.
i am happy for lebron, happy for the cavs, happy for cavs fans, happy for NE ohio. plus i live in LA and will enjoy wearing my lebron jersey for the next week or so and drawing the ire of kobe lovers - and loving it.
Great job LBJ....but none of these MVP's won the NBA championship and the MVP the same year...hopefully that changes this year but...

Kingfish, Duncan accomplished this in 2003.
He won MVP and Finals MVP in the 2002-2003 season.
I like the second song in the video.....goes really well with the video.
This MVP is LONG overdue. This should be at least his second MVP, if not his third. The worst ever was Nash's second in '05-'06. That guy had no business repeating as MVP that year.
BEST OFF SEASON TRADE: CHECK
RE-SIGNING JOE SMITH: CHECK
BEST RECORD IN LEAGUE: CHECK
COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD: CHECK
MVP OF THE LEAGUE: CHECK
CHAMPIONSHIP: CHE--
12 MORE WINS!!!
LEBRON WILL END CLEVELANDS DROUGHT...
We are all WITNESS to:
1) a super star who is old school by his unselfish attitude--team is No. 1, not his ego.
2) a young man who made it though a tough time as a child/young man with the help of the community (foster parents, St. Vincent, etc.).
3) a man who remembers his roots and friends when few of us given that much money and adulation at that age could act as mature as he does.
4) the greatest basketball player of all time and possibly the greatest athlete of all time (we will see).
5) a man that values his family and serves as a good role model for being a father.
Congrats LeBron.
Please take us down Euclid Avenue in June for a parade to be remembered forever.
I would be more excited if the season didnt run into the middle of June!
This is great news for a Cleveland sports team and still the last Browns article (written yesterday afternoon)has more comments. Unbelievable! This article should have several hundred comments. We need to stop with the Expansion Browns town mentality.
I am coming up from Florida on June 1st just to see Cleveland end it's title drought! I can't wait to see all of you (I'll be the one screaming my head off!)
Lebron you're the man!
Go CAVS!!!
BELIEVELAND!!!
kobeismvp....your boy had 2, yes 2 first place votes. I guess your vote was one of them. Oh wait you can't vote.
LBJLouganis....Pete Franklin is no longer alive. Goes to show you how unintelligent you are.
Lebron deserved this award hands down. 109 of 121 first place votes says it all.
Congratulations Most Valuable Punk. Take a fake picture of your trophy Lebron. Maybe throw some powder all over it. Get the fake video camera rolling. God this guy is annoying. Good, but annoying.
wb74 give it a break he had an unbelievable year anyone who thinks indifferent is a punk. Would u rather see some thug win the award? Lebron is probably if not the best citizen and player the NBA has to offer so I guess if u dont like genuine nice guys I might find u annoying.
I never said he wasnt good. I think he is the best player in the NBA. But just play the friggen game. Never mind all that other stuff. You want to compare him to Jordan? Jordan never did any of this stuff
dude shows up in a ferrari, and they give him a... kia? that's hilarious!
"Who was the last MVP to win the NBA champioship?"
Shaq in 2000.
"i am happy for lebron, happy for the cavs, happy for cavs fans, happy for NE ohio. plus i live in LA and will enjoy wearing my lebron jersey for the next week or so and drawing the ire of kobe lovers - and loving it."
Good for you. We'll see if you keep it on after the Finals.
Congrats to Bron he deserved it. He is the best player on the best team...THIS REGULAR SEASON. It remains to be seen if he's ACTUALLY the best in the world as so many of you claim he is.
The city of Cleveland better jump for joy now. Best record in the NBA, HC advantage throughout playoffs, Bron mvp, easy path to the conf Finals...everything is going your way so far.
We'll see how long the good times last...
Fantastic!!!
Hopefully as we play the Hawks now this city will focus on the Cavs and forget the crappy Tribe and Browns minicamp. This is the PLAYOFFS!! Lebron and the Cavs have a chance to end the city's losing streak at 45 years!
Nice gesture in immediately donating the SUV to the Akron Urban league. Hopefully, they will lend it to the CAVS and LBJ for the victory parade in June.
Has anyone taught Mr Yankee Fan how to properly tip a waitperson yet? Those stories about him stiffing waitstaff were truly embarrasing. He'll be out of Cleveland within two years regardless.
Congrats Lebron!
Some guys slow down when they get all the applause, fortune and fame, but you haven't. Just like your hero, you haven't stopped trying to get better and to help your teammates get better. You bring it on a weekday night on the road and you bring it under the bright lights of the Olympics and the Playoffs.
I'm excited to see you hoist the MVP trophy and of course I'll be more excited to see you and your teammates hoist the Larry O'Brian Championship Trophy!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Finals
Don't forget the spiritual truth that your HS Coach Dru Joyce taught you too. I know him from way back, so I know he had to mention a few things every now and then :)
Back in 2003, when Lebron was drafted #1 overall, we knew he was going to be great. we didn't know he would develop into a good person. (admit it, alot of us werwe waiting for the talking in the 3rd person, the antics usually associated with spoiled athletes. 6 years later, it has not happened. 6 Years later, and this guy is, dare I say it? A "ROLE" model??? Yes! I dare!
Keep up the great work, Lebron! You have made us all so proud of you, your team, and all that you stand for!
And, next time you wear a yankees hat to an Indians game, please get a louge!!!!!!!! You and your friends were absolutely fine, but, too many Indians fans were total jackasses!!!!!
weedrules please stay off the grass at quicken loans arena.
It's all about ................. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND another thing James wouldn't be caught dead even riding in a Kia............gimme a break !
Looking at the Magic/Celts game tonight I think this series will end quicker than most predicted.
Bron better use his "greatness" and propel his team to another 4-0 sweep for some rest before playing those Magic.
Just saying...
hey, i know the thought of lebron riding in a KIA is hilarious, but if you listened to the marketing guy....the car was not given to lebron as a "prize." rather, it was given to him "as a donation to be given in his name" to the urban league of akron. i imagine they will use it in an auction or something like that....
Congratulations Lebron. It's nice you continue to profess your affection for St. V-M, but please don't forget to bring a check for the school next time you come back for anotther photo-op....
First off, great job Lebron winning the MVP award. He really did deserve it, not just because of his stats, but because of his off-court actions and his leadership abilities. I love that there are Lakers fans that are still coming on here and bashing Lebron. They are great for a laugh. To all the Cavs fans that come on here and complain in comments on Cavs articles about the Browns and Indians, give it a rest. Who does it hurt that more people comment on the Browns. I love the Cavs as much as annybody, but football is so much easier to follow and be a huge fan of. Those comments just say to me that you are a front-runner that only cares about the Cavs because they are winning right now. You aren't a true Cleveland fan, I am. I will watch every Browns game and as many Indians games as I can, even if they lose every game. The same goes for the Cavs. I bet if the Cavs started next season 4-6 or 3-7 you would all be saying how this team was a fluke and will never win anything again. Either be a real Cleveland fan, or keep your mouth shut.
hey, black spam-ba: so what the F--K will *you* do when the lakers lose? start trolling the jai-alai websites? i'm betting you don't even post in fakers' websites. (and the LA times doesn't allow comments just to keep idiots like you from polluting their website.)
let's see what kobe did in response to finishing second? have a big game? no.
he went 1 for 7 from the arc in a EIGHT POINT LOSS!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
and instead of saying: "if i hadn't gone 1 for 7 from the arc" he blamed the defense. what class!!!
the rockets scored 100 pts - while the lakers give up 99.3 PPG. OTOH, the fakers only scored 92 pts - 14 pts below their average.
maybe he can blame that choke on his alleged sore throat.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Well, I was sick last night. Now the league has it out for me. I guess that I'll just have to deal with this injustice for yet another year. No justice no peace! Kobe
Let's hope the team shakes off the rust and buries the Hawks quickly. Congrats to LBJ. Well deserved. But as another poster said... None of it matters if they don't get that ring.
C'mon Cavs! We're all praying you finally bring a championship home to Cleveland!!
My worry now is that with the ceremony and long layoff the Hawks are going to come out and destroy the Cavs tonight. They played a hard fought series with the Heat so they will be loose and ready. Hopefully the Cavs will take them surprise and destroy them instead.
And KobeisntMVP, you make me laugh with your stupid comments.
Congratulations Lebron, on winning the MVP!
Maybe we can have a special tribute for him, like the next game, no matter what he does, nobody will call a foul on him.
Oh yeah, I forgot, They already do that every game!
The Jordan rules have been replaced by the "Queen rules"
Tkrslam,
The Cavaliers are a first class organization from the top down. The Browns, since they've come back have players that cant play (or wont play), coaches who cant coach and an owner who is more concerned about soccer. So I'm just a smart consumer. If you continue to watch every expansion Browns game, even if they stink...well that's up to you...apparently you have no life. So my advice to you is just shut your pie hole.
Go Cavs!
YES!!! Congratulations Lebron!!!!! Your amazing. Go Cavs!
I am sorry Kobe the league is wrong you are the real MVP it just shows if you travel enough you will win the MVP they should change the name to the MVT MOST VALUABLE TRAVELER.
Have ball will travel letravel card don't leave home with out it
Letravel James
Great MVC performance in the Fakersoutin6's loss last night by kobeisdbag.....
Cavs Rule!!!
kobeismvp
letravel23
lebumjames
LBJLouganis
Any more screen names you're going to make D-Bag?
Boston and Kobe loses. Both teams will go down this round. I'd be willing to bet that they learned how to "go down" from the master himself........kobeismvp, or should I say kobeismvd!
Keep hating haters, see you in downtown Cleveland for the victory parade...
Monkey24,
You are just proving my point. I never said that the Browns were any good, but I'm still going to watch them and root for them. I bet you will only cntinue to watch the Cavs as long as they win. Oh and spending three hours 16 sundays out of the year watching the Browns doesn't mean I have no life, it means I'm a CLEVELAND fan.
GO CLEVELAND!!!
Hey kingfish2000:
The 2002-2003 Spurs were the NBA champions and Tim Duncan was the MVP. I believe the Spurs beat the Lakers in the Western Conference semis that year and broke LA's string of three straight banners. The Spurs later beat the Mavs in the conference finals and then the JKidd/K-Mart/Richard Jefferson nets in the NBA finals. Ironically, every one of the Spurs' series went 6 games that playoffs.
The point of your post -- that MVP's do not have a recent track record of bringing home the championship hardware is a good point, though.
Go Cavs. Over the Hawks in 5.
If the Cavs do make the finals and face the Fakers, I will be the biggest Cleveland fan in New England!
Especially since Lebron will be in a Celtic uniform, come '10-'11! ;o)
Well deserved.
12 more wins to the real prize.
BTW, I watch almost all the Cavs, Browns and Tribe game even when they ae not good teams. I'm a fan and not ashamed of it at all.
Bummed that I have to watch today's Tribe game on Tivo.
At least I see the Cavs live tonight.
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR!
Did the people cracking jokes about the KIA even read the story? He donated it to the Akron Urban League. And its a pretty nice SUV for a KIA.
Congrats Lebron.....re-sign with the Cavs and you will be bigger in Cleveland than Jim Brown
Oh, and what makes me laugh is the PD selling basically laminated copies of todays front page for 55 BUCKS!!!!!!!
SEEEEEEERIOUSLY????!!!
TO OUR DEAR DEAR FRIEND KOBIEMVP.......SHUT THE LIGHTS OUT ON YOUR WAY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome and well deserved! Go Cavs! The Browns are still a joke and will always will be. Stop the "Browns Town" mentality.
AGREED ! Big Time. Go Cavs, the entire team plays like a team should. Best of Luck.
signed
Tired of 'next year' every year.
Tkrslam,
Unlike the expansion Clowns, the Cavs players bring it every single night. They make it to the playoffs every year! How nice is that? For Browns fans, their Superbowl is the draft. How sad is that? The Browns are a joke and if you want to watch them, more power to ya.
Go Cavs!
I knew he would donate that Kia...that's the kind of most valuable Person he is!
The only thing I don't like about the Cavs being in the play-offs is the jobs I lose as an entertainer in local bars/nightclubs cause everyone wants to watch the Cavs LOL but it's worth it anyway!!!
Go CAVS!!! make sure to win it all so my lost income is justified lol!
TeslaRocks,
First of all you are a Tesla fan, so that helps explains your rationale. Are you also PeterCriss09? Another tool on this forum?
What does winning it all have to do with the fact that Lebron James earned the MVP award? Cavs will most likely win it all this season. The MVP is an individual accolade, even though team is vital to a players success. Winning a championship? Basketball is a team sport, so the fact that you say HE wins it all is a joke and shows your ignorance. Then again, you are probably an L.A. Rapers fan so what do you know. Did you enjoy the Rockets beating your homeboys last night?
I wonder if Kobe will call Lebron and beg him for tickets to the finals.
BlackMamba,
You are a Fidiot. Go swing from Kobe "she asked for it" Bryant's nutsack somewhere else, K? Why do you subject us to this nonsense everyday? You must feel absolutely threatened by our team considering you post here more than some of us. Why don't you try unplugging your computer.
wow Lebron James M.V.P i live in texas and theyre yappin cause the rockets beat the lakers well so what cause the road to the title goes thru cleveland but they have a ways to go and i know they will come out on top and the most valuable player of the finals is..........KING JAMES....AND THE CAVALIERS bring us that trophy

5) a man that values his family and serves as a good role model for being a father
Seriously? Most good role models that are father's MARRY the mothers. Give me a break. Good for him, he won the MVP, but all the other about most valuable person is a frigging joke.
This overinflated ego has walked away from multiple kids trying to get autographs, stiffed multiple servers to the point managers have to wait on him and has given giant middle fingers to the cleveland fans at other sports things.
Sorry LeBrat you will still be number 4 in the City. Browns, Indians, Buckeye's (or whatever college you root for) Cavs

We're not really talking apples to apples here. Over half the teams in the NBA qualify for the playoffs. The NFL is a whole different story.
Congrats Lebron,
I knew you would win this award...
And this is to kobeismvp.. HA,HA,HA, IN YOUR FACE
I told you Friday who was going to be MVP.
GO CAVS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's amazing. I remember when people (probably the same people on here) use to bash the Cavs @ every opportunity. I guess it's in fashion to bash the Browns now. Hmm? Wonder what will happen when (not IF) LBJ leaves and the Cavs go thru some off years? By the way, not saying LBJ is going to NY or anywhere else, but he won't be playing for the Cavs (or anyone else) forever. I hope people here have good and strong knees from all the bandwagon jumping!
Someone had the audacity to say the following:
"5) a man that values his family and serves as a good role model for being a father

I can only guess or speculate what you would have said or might say if he just walked away and not support his kids. Where does it states that you HAVE to marry the mother? People are so quick to judge. Ye who is without sin, cast the first stone!
You don't HAVE to marry the mother. But try not be a good role model for young men then do exactly what many do. OH and men that don't marry the mother are usually only having one child not several. Typical NBA'er. Only difference he supports his kids. Well YIPPPEEEEE!!! Isn't he supposed to? Role model and value person my arse.
At least you glossed over his other big time issues he has. Value person, HA!!
linky80,and socalbrnfan,
UGH WHY SUCH NEGATIVITY?
Just because you have a child with someone doesn't make a marriage...Ask any divorce couple with children.
And how do any know that it's him that don't want to get married??
It could be her...Do you reside in their house hold? I don't think so. So stop judging and
Stop showing your BITC#AZZNESs
Hmm? Negative? Hell, I'm probably the most positive person on here! People on here (and in general) are so fast to judge people it's pathetic! The top two reasons are, Race and social status. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of some people. So much hatred in people today.
Sometimes people reflect all the negativity in their own lives by tearing down those who have achieved. LeBron is 24 years old. His life's experience and judgment will continue to grow.
Going back to Akron St. Vincent was a class act in my opinion and an example of remebering your roots...and giving his mentors their due.
Give him his due.
Cleveland sports teams are NOT respected. But we can all share in the pride of this moment.
Thanks to mancalledsun and socalbrnfan for backing up my point about the Browns. Being a Browns fan or an Indians fan doesn't take away from being a Cavaliers fan. It really is a lot easier to make the playoffs in the NBA than it is in the NFL or MLB. NBA is 16 out of 30 teams, 53%. NFL is 12 out of 32, 37.5%. MLB is 6 out of 30(I believe), 20%. the numbers speak for themselves. Plus this year is the first year that the Cavs have honestly really been in contention for the Championship. Give the Browns time. Yes I kno it's been ten years with these Browns, but the Cavs did go 30-something years between division titles so lay off the Browns.
GO CLEVELAND!!!
