There are currently more than 700 DS games—more than Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 combined. That's a lot of games. With so many, though, some of the better ones are sure to fall through the cracks.
Which Nintendo DS games do you think deserve more attention?
Kirby, underrated? ......Since when?
Suikoden Tierkreis, now that's an underrated game. Sure, the acting is horrible (omgseriouslycanweallstoptalkingatthisspeed, noreallycanwestoptalkingatthisspeed?!), it isn't connected to the Suikoden world we're familiar with, and I don't care much for the four person party (second time they've downgraded from six). Collecting all 108 stars can be a pain, but that's pretty much standard in the Suikoden series. It still has some redeeming factors. Outstanding music (especially for a DS game), great story (okay, so there might be a plot hole or two), plenty of opportunities to make money through quests and trading, and a skills system that lets you choose which is best for each character (admittedly, this can be a double-edged sword...depends on how you look at it). You could easily spend 20 hours or more just exploring the world, no matter how "different" it can be. I beat it a few weeks ago, and was considering starting up a new file to pick up all the stars I missed.
Elite Beat Agents. Agents GO!
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is great for older players. Hard levels can be overcome by a skill up system that sends you back for more training and another chance to win. The game is based on the "match three tiles" thing but adds so many more activities to improve your avatar and your fun.
Atarria, can you tell me what the purple stars are used for? Thanks
I have dementium: the ward. I can tell you its awesome. It scared me so much that I could not play it at night, or in the dark, or even alone. But the only problem I have is that if you die or quit, you have to start at the beginning of the level.
The DS is an awesome hand held system. Here are some other games that should have made the list. If you haven't played these great games, go buy them.
The World Ends With You
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
broken sword is a great game, well animated classic clicky mystery- kind of like day of the tentacle or the dig or full throttle. its got a hint system which is pretty much reassures your own common sense. definitely one of my top rated
What the hell, akahata...? Not one of those games is even remotely underrated. WEWY and Advance Wars are like two of the top games on the DS and the Layton series is very well-known.
If you want obscure yet kinda cool, there's still like LostMagic and Custom Robo Arena.
i dont know how under rated these games are, but heres my tops as of now
worms open warfare 2 ... classic
legend of kage 2 ... this is a sequel to a game made in 1985 or so, pleasantly retro. great references to the first, even with the music.
broken sword.. puzzle game, well animated... you get to crack cyphers, pretty sick mystery game. some pretty funny content too, r rated fo sho.
ankh .. pretty much the same type of game. if you can get past the bad music and cheesed out dialog, its a pretty good problem solving game. tons of funny r rated things scattered throughout too.
geometry wars
yeahhh... i'm on the hunt for some good ones
Nobody mentioned Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime? Wow...
Oh, and I also forgot Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon...
Lunar Knights, Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble, Dementium of the Ward, Hotel Dusk, and DQH: Rocket Slime. So great, yet so underrated.
Not to mention Glory Days 2...People don't know a first installment of the game even existed, such a shame.
