The Zoo renovated one of its most popular exhibits, Monkey Island, at a cost of $1.2 million.  It received a higher mountain for the animals to climb, waterfalls, and a more natural look.  The former 1950’s A-frame glass building was replaced with a large deck, allowing visitors to view the island in a new way.  The Zoo received a beautification award for the new Macaque Island exhibit.  Lakeview Place Restaurant near Lake Evinrude also was constructed in 2002.
