For King or Queen: Double the skeins needed

Gauge: 2.5 sts/2 rows= 1 inch in hdc (half-double crochet)

Pattern:

This is a fairly simple Pattern because it’s all about the colors. The entire blanket is worked with 2 yarns held together using hdc. I designed this blanket to be made in 9 strips and then assembled. This makes it much easier to carry around and much less cumbersome in general during the process.

Note: Assembly of this blanket is much easier if you work in all ends as you go.

To make the outer most strips:

Holding yarns A&B together as one, ch 15(18, 16,18)

R1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each remaining chain; 13 (17,15,17) sts ch2, turn

R2: hdc in each hdc of previous row, ch2, turn

Repeat row 2 8 (8, 12, 12) times

Color change row: hdc in each hdc of previous row until last stitch (yo, insert yarn into last st, yo, pull through, break yarn A and finish stitch with yarns B&C )ch 2, turn.

Repeat row 2 9(9,13,13) times

R24: repeat row 12 only breaking yarn and finishing stitch with yarns B&D

In these strips yarn B is a constant and will not be broken, the other yarns will change every 12 rows in this pattern A,C,D,E,F,G,A,B,A,G,F,E,D,C,A at the end of the 15th block break both yarns and pull through loop. The variable yarn pattern is the same for each strip, but the constant yarns for each strip are:

2(2,3,3) stips with Yarn A as constant

2(2,2,2) strips with Yarn B as constant

1(1,2,2) strip each with Yarn C- G as contstant.

If this is confusing for you, I created a Twin/Full and a Queen/King Blanket Chart so you can see the whole thing laid out.

9 (9,15,15)strips in total.

Assembly:

Lay the strips together lengthwise in this fashion (I name the stips with the Constant yarn name) Yarn B strip, Yarn, A strip, Yarn C strip, Yarn D strip, Yarn E strip, Yarn F strip, Yarn G strip, Yarn A strip, Yarn B strip. Whipstitch them all together

Edging:

Using one strand of the black work a single crochet border around the entire blanket, slip stitch to close.

This is awesome! It looks like a fun exercise in color.

I’ve searched high and low for a “Projects” section on your website where I could see things you’ve made, so I could recommend a pattern I’d like to see you make that might be something you’d like too. But I couldn’t find any of your projects. So I guess that would be my constructive criticism for your contest — add a projects feature (or make it easier to find if you already have one that I’ve missed).

So I’m just going to ask that you make Cookie A’s Gothic Spire Socks. I love how they look and I’d love to see another pair knitted up.

Thanks for having the contest. :)

I love things with plays on color. That’s a beautiful palate!

Oh! I just realized it’s crochet – would it be able to be knit as well?
