In director Pilar Wiley’s video for “Calling Out,” Midnight Magic plays off the early days of music videos: full of overly dramatic performances and confusing symbolism. Despite the not-so-subtle winks to the medium’s history, the music itself (and singer Tiffany Roth’s voice) remains haunting.
