I don't think game developers realise how close they are coming to a full blown 'occupy' type backlash! I have vowed to not buy another COD, I have not brought ME3 in protest over their DLC (no matter how they try and defend it, and if they really cared about the gamers they would have given the content away for free...not a kick in the crouch 'You just brought the game! Well here's some we left out and think you'll enjoy for just a little more of your money!"). BF3 is rumoured to follow suit with a paying subscription required to play online (if you are lucky enough to be able to get online knowing the rubbish EA servers). If this is the case I will add this title to my avoid list also. If it boils down to me sticking to single player games (and ones with impressive DLC like the Shivering Isles ((Bethesda really redeemed themselves with that)) I will gladly abandon all multiplayer games so those greedy exploiters can't get their clammy claws on my coins!

Way back around 7 years ago there was uproar over some DLC for Oblivion. If you recall you could purchase some armour for your trusty steed. Then people realised if you played the games you eventually get your mitts on Shadowmere, an indestructible nag, which made the horse armour pointless. Now here we are in the present and it looks like developers still can't work out how to milk all the overly compliant gamers coins out of their banks and into theirs without causing controversy. Some people think it is only fair that big games companies continually try to milk as much additional revenue from a title after launch as 'games cost lots of money to make'. Well here's the thing... games also cost lots of money to BUY!

as anyone played the dlc? is it worth it anyway?
i dont really care about mass effect dlcs cause they usually arent that interesting.
but if the game was already finished and the dlc was made while it was in certification didnt the dlc had to be certified too? if the content is actually on the disk didnt that delayed the game releasing?

I am kind of bothered by the way Jane says Certification, its a minor emphasis needed in certain places

Terrible. I respect developers like CD Projekt who make their game better for the people who bought it and patch it with new content FOR FREE. Because the game was already paid for. This is some bull though. They can say what they want, but charging for DLC in this situation is in no way justified. It's all about the benjamins.

ok im fairly sure bioware lied just then -given that they have claimed various things were not true -then we find out that they are true-im willing to stay that we should just assume everything they just said is a lie and that they are being jerks about this. given how simple the rest of the stuff their claiming is im willing to guess that they only left that stuff out because they wanted something to send in the dlc besides the unlock code.

Zaeed and Kasumi, that's makes sense since there wasn't much depth to either of them. But a freaking Prothean as DLC that wasn't fully implemented until after the game was finalised? Sorry, I call bs on this.

Bioware are hardly going to comment "Yep, it's a cash cow and we made it like this to get as much wonga from you guys as possible". DLC before release is plain wrong! I remember the days when it was all free.

EA is a bunch of MONEY leeching mongrels...I am not surprised with what crap they pull to take money...BioWare should get away from EA...Interplay , Lucas Arts , 2K...Those were good matches back in the day..EA focuses on MONEY!

This was the same thing as the Catwoman content in Arkham City given as free DLC to pre-orders at Gamestop and others, so it's nothing super new. That being said in both cases the "DLC content" was already on the disk and the reason for making it separate completely for extra profit. The really crappy thing is Catwoman and Javik are both huge parts of both games stories and if you don't have them miss a big chunk of the game and hours of content and dialog. I for one hope this DLC raping of my wallet doesn't keep up much longer, but I'm too smart to think it will end without major protest. Don't games cost enough as it is? Aren't we still in a global recession?

I don't care what excuse they have for day one DLC, the fact of the matter is that I could go and buy Mass Effect 3 from a shop for full price and I wouldn't have the full game when I got back home. That is just crazy. End of story.

HAHAHA @ 0:55 , No better screen shot for the "failure" situation.
Also, gotta wonder how people figure out these DLC, Hack things. Wish I could do that crap on my own.

first of all i love the stories Bioware is tellingin their Franchises, i bought BG, BG 2, Planescape, Dragon Age, Dragon Age 2(and i got ME 2 for free with the Sign Edition(very cool move)), but their DLC Policy is horrible and its like that in every new game of Bioware. Especially playing through ME 2 and DA 2 which have a great story(especially ME 2) but don t resemble a classic Bioware RPG experience cause the games are played through in no time(what a jump von DA to DA 2, i think DA 2 has maybe a third of the playing time even with the dlc of the Signature edition, of DA without any DLC, so my message to Bioware: Please keep on giving us amazing games but think them through and don t make episodes of it like in DA 2, the huge success of skyrim, which has a huge world, and no official dlcs yet show that people are willing to pay for quality but get annoyed when they are just used to get more money
