Audrey and George Treadaway

George Treadaway’s main field of endeavour has been in aircraft engineering.
After some years involved in guided missile trials at the Woomera Rocket Range and The Weapons Research Establishment at Salisbury in South Australia, he decided to opt out of this profession and follow a more peace loving and creative persuit.
He and his wife Audrey moved to Queensland to take part in a farming venture, from which they withdrew after five years.
During this time Audrey had obtained a Certificate in Ceramics following which she was invited to teach the three year Certificate Course at the Toowoomba Technical College.
Combining their talents they set about making a living producing ‘Treadaway Pottery’.
A government grant enabled them to establish a workshop in the Toowoomba area and there followed 17 years of potting professionally, building kilns and giving workshops for the various pottery clubs in the Darling Downs area.
Retiring after this very successful period Audrey and George moved to the Sunshine Coast. Ten years ago George revived an early interest in drawing and painting, learning to paint watercolours.
This sparked Audrey’s interest also and for the past 8 years they have shared their enjoyment of this hobby. Together they attend watercolour workshops, life drawing classes and take lessons from a variety of tutors. George paints mainly portraits while Audrey enjoys portraying wildlife.
