Medics found tortured and killed in Syria

Twenty-five people were killed and 175 people were wounded in two blasts targeting security bases in Aleppo on Friday, state television quoted the Health Ministry as saying.

Three medics were tortured and killed in Syria after their arrest in the city of Aleppo, Amnesty International said last night as it condemned the "appalling disregard" for the safety of health workers.

Bashar al-Assad: Syria is in 'a state of war'

Syria formally expelled Britain's ambassador to Damascus and 16 other foreign envoys on Tuesday in a gesture of defiance designed to demonstrate President Bashar al-Assad's insouciance in the face of mounting international isolation.

Bashar al-Assad admitted Syria was in "a state of war" on Tuesday as rebel forces clashed with the military in the suburbs of Damascus and Turkey toughened the rules of engagement for its troops on the countries' shared border.
