Canadian Forces Operations

As directed by the Government of Canada, Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) stands ready 24/7 to lead Canadian Forces operations at home, in North America, and around the world.

CJOC continuously watches over Canada's land, air and maritime approaches to identify potential threats before they reach Canadian territory, including the North. This allows the Canadian Forces to respond to and protect against threats.

At home, Canadian Joint Operations Command coordinates and leads operations that help civil authorities respond to threats that range from natural disasters to terrorist attacks. It also responds to those in distress by conducting rapid response search and rescue operations anywhere in Canada.

Abroad, CJOC directs and supports a wide variety of missions, such as: combat, regional security, peace-support and stabilization, training, humanitarian and non-combatant evacuations. These are usually integrated into multinational missions led by NATO or the United Nations (UN).
