Is Posh the new Imelda Marcos? Victoria Beckham's tweet reveals the shoe mountain she's donating to charity for Philippine victims

She is rarely seen in the same outfit twice.

But if anyone doubted the sheer size of Victoria Beckham’s extensive clothing collection, they have only to look at the mountain of shoes she has hauled from her wardrobe.

The 39-year-old former Spice Girl and her husband David are donating thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes to their local charity shop to raise cash for victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

The couple have handed over boxes full of their old clothes and shoes to a British Red Cross shop in Chelsea, west London, to help fund the charity’s work in the Philippines.

Mrs Beckham yesterday tweeted a picture of the enormous shoe collection, along with a shot of her wearing jeans, a grey top and white trainers sitting in a cardboard box surrounded by other boxes.

The cast-offs, which are due to go on sale Friday at 11am, includes hundreds of pairs of Victoria’s shoes, which are UK sizes four and five,  and many of David’s signature baseball caps.

Victoria, who is said to have spent the weekend sorting through her posh threads, urged others to follow her example and donate their old clothes.

She said: ‘Typhoon Haiyan has devastated the Philippines, killing thousands and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. The British Red Cross is now carrying out an enormous humanitarian relief project to help all those people in desperate need.

‘David and I are supporting the Red Cross Shop Drop for the Philippines campaign and we urge everyone in Britain to do the same.

Fans are expected to queue up round the block for a chance to get their hands on the designer clothes ahead of the shop's opening time at 11am.

A Red Cross source said: ‘We asked if they would like to help us raise money for the Typhoon Haiyan survivors and they jumped at the chance.

'The collection includes dresses, tops, suits and shoes from labels including Dolce and Gabbana, Jimmy Choo and Roberto Cavalli.

‘They’ll all be identified as items from Victoria and David.’

Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines on Friday November 8th, which has left more than four million people homeless.

What a shame that people are so negative. Posh and David can't win. If they don't help charities they are selfish. If they do, they are seeking publicity. I say good on them. Publicity or not, they are helping a good cause and giving people without their money and fame the chance to sample a little piece of it. They are making a lot of people happy this way. Yes, they can afford it but they don't have to do it.

Isn't it depressing that so many of you are using this as an opportunity to slate the Beckhams' who are using their celebrity status for good. I'm no fan, but any help when people are worse off than you, is to me, something to be celebrated. So please, do, put money in buckets, donate your own clothing, fund raise in some was as I will be doing, and put your time and effort in to something more positive than jealousy and greed. I wish you all a wonderful day.
