EXCLUSIVE: One Direction's Louis Tomlinson wears shorts emblazoned with a marijuana leaf... months after controversy over roll-up video

Louis Tomlinson sparked concern among parents of his impressionable young fans in May when a troubling video emerged of him smoking drugs on tour with bandmate Zayn Malik.

But the One Direction star doesn't appear to have learned from his mistakes - as he has now been pictured wearing shorts emblazoned with a marijuana leaf.

The 22-year-old smiled as he posed with a fan in St. Louis, Missouri, where the band performed at the Edward Jones Dome on Wednesday night.

The singer's controversial fashion choice will do very little to help the boy band's image amid ongoing speculation the five-piece are drifting apart.

He was widely criticized when footage of him and Zayn passing a spiff between each other was exclusively revealed by MailOnline in May.

While neither Louis or Zayn publicly apologized or spoke publicly about the footage, fellow 1D star Liam Payne sympathized: 'We all do stupid things at this age.'

Liam wrote on Twitter: ‘I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways I apologise for that. We are only in our 20’s we all do stupid things at this age’.

Meanwhile his bandmate Harry Styles, 20, is pursuing his own projects  after penning a track for US popstar Ariana Grande, as well as working with chart-topping songwriter Ryan Tedder.

One Direction arrived in Chicago today [Friday] for two dates at the Soldier Field before enjoying a short break ahead of three shows at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles.
