She is promoting the second season of her reality show Candidly Nicole.

So Nicole Richie certainly wanted to look her best as she arrived at AOL's Fall Programming Premiere Event in LA on Thursday night, to celebrate the upcoming show.

Nicole went for a revealing lace dress, featuring printed roses, and other floral detail.

Earlier that day, Nicole appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and put on a much more goofy display of herself.

In the studio to talk about the second season of her AOL web series, #CandidlyNicole, which premieres on Thursday night - the spin-off of which recently ran on VH1 and has also been renewed for a second outing - the star soon found herself competing to break a world record.

The competition came about after Ellen revealed that Nicole had broken the record for the number of hip-hop moves performed in 30 seconds.

Racy lacy: Nicole certainly didn't shy away from showing off some flesh at the event

'So are you up for breaking another record on the show?' the host asked.

'I sure am!' the 33-year-old responded with her usual dose of enthusiasm.

Heading to the stage, a huge transparent bowl filled to the brim with plump white marshmallows was then wheeled out as the 56-year-old explained what it was that the designer would be doing.

'Are you up for breaking another record?' After revealing that the mom-of-two had broken the record for the number of hip-hop moves performed in 30 seconds, the host challenged her to attempt another

'What we're going to do is attempt to break the record for the most marshmallows stuffed into an Ellen guest with someone else's hands,' she revealed.

'Am I the guest?' the mom-of-two asked, seemingly a little shocked by the task.

Slipping a shirt over Nicole's front as Ellen reached around from behind her, putting her arms in the sleeves, Nicole giggled, 'I feel very close to you right now,' as the talk show host snuggled in nice and close.

'I feel very close to you right now': Ellen snuggled up nice and close to the 33-year-old as she slipped a shirt over them both, the 56-year-old's arms poking through the sleeves as she stood behind her guest

'Can I tell you a trick I think?' she then asked, giving Ellen some advice, clearly a pro at the somewhat similar Chubby Bunny marshmallow game. 'I think you gotta shove 'em to the side so I have some storage.'

'You just quiet down,' Ellen deadpanned, poised to poke a fluffy white marshmallow in her guest's mouth as 45 seconds was put up on the clock.

The star looked absolutely terrified as the balls were then squished into her mouth, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets as she struggled to keep them in while laughing.

With only about three actually making it into her mouth, Ellen then went with the tactic of smooshing handfuls directly into her face, the gooey texture of the sweet treats making them stick together.

'What happened to that side storage thing that you had?' Ellen asked with a laugh as Nicole threw her hands up in defeat. 'I'm trying to do the side storage.'

Nicole ended up with the contents spilling out of her mouth in a Father Christmas beard-like manner, having barely even made a dent in the huge bowl in front of them.

However, with no-one else having previously attempted the world record challenge on the show, she was of course dubbed the record holder, presented with a marshmallow crown and a pretty blue silk sash for her efforts, both of which were embellished with sparkling diamantés.
