Smiling Lindsay Lohan enjoys fun night out at London club as she puts recent legal and medical woes behind her

It's been a few months of ups and downs for Lindsay Lohan but she appeared to be in high spirits in London on Monday night.

The 28-year-old actress, who followed up a successful theatre run in the West End with being hospitalised with rare mosquito borne virus called Chikungunya and almost jailed for failing to complete community service requirements, enjoyed a relaxed night out with pals.

She went for dinner at Nobu and followed it up with a trip to one of Prince Harry's favourite haunts, Boujis in South Kensington.

Lindsay was casually dressed in leather trousers, a white shirt, long jacket and a scarf for her night out and pulled her signature red hair back off her face.

The tee-total actress laughed and joked with a group of friends as they left the restaurant after dinner.

A source at Boujis told MailOnline: 'Lindsay was dancing the night away till 2.30am. Her friends were drinking but she stayed on soft drinks all night.

'But she still had a great time, jumping on tables and chairs and dancing away and at one stage she was cosying up to a young stud.'

Last month Lohan was hospitalised after contracting the Chikungunya virus while on holiday French Polynesia over the Christmas holiday in December.

Doctors at King Edward have reportedly referred the star to a specialist to manage symptoms related to the virus.

At the time of her contracting the virus Lindsay did not seem to take the illness seriously posting on Instagram and Twitter: ‘I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation (sic).'

And added a snap of herself jet skiing in a bikini with the caption: 'Before I got Chikungunya. Use big spray please. God bless'.

Chikungunya is a virus transmitted from mosquitoes to people, according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention.

Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, joint pain and swelling or rash.

There is no vaccine to prevent the virus or medicine to treat it with once infected.

Though Chikungunya is rarely fatal, according to the World Health Organization, 'in some cases pain may persist for several months, or even years,' according to the Oh No! They Didn't! website.

However, WHO also states that the majority of patients fully recover.

And last month Lindsay was told she could face jail for failing to properly complete a 240-hour community service order given to her after she crashed her Porsche into an 18-wheel lorry in America in 2012.

The troubled star was given permission to transfer her hours to Britain after moving to London ten months ago, and was assigned to working with the Community Service Volunteers Positive Futures Project in Hackney.

However, she invoked the wrath of Los Angeles prosecutor Terry White after it emerged she had received credits for meeting and greeting volunteers during her run performing in the play Speed The Plow at the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End.

She also allowed volunteers from the project to shadow her at work for hours. According to documents, these activities allowed the former Disney child star to provide volunteers from the project with ‘an insight into a very different working life giving invaluable and unique experiences’ to them.

Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White will have until February 18 to investigate whether Lindsay has fulfilled her requirements.

Invest in a black pair of Givenchy boots like Lindsay

Lindsay Lohan's sojourn in the UK is very exciting for us.

The Hollywood starlet appeared on stage in Speed the Plow at the end of last year and seems to have taken a liking to London. Last night she was papped outside Nobu and in South Kensington too! But as ever, it's the clothes we're more interested in. Always the clothes!

Lindsay's been rocking some stellar looks while in London with designer pieces by Isabel Marant, Saint Laurent and Burberry as well as a bit of high street action from stores like Topshop. But today she worked her Givenchy boots and we swooned.

These signature fold-over boots with iconic gold lock detail have been spotted on a whole host of celebrities. Tamara Ecclestone, Kim Kardashian and LeAnn Rimes have all strutted their stuff in these beauties.
