Sawyer Sweeten, 19, shot himself on the front porch of a house while visiting family in Texas yesterday. Mr Sweeten (pictured riding a motorbike last month) appeared in 139 episodes of the popular US sitcom and also took small parts in television shows Even Stevens and Frank McKlusky C.I alongside his twin brother Sullivan (front right) in the early 2000s. The teenager played Geoffrey Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, while his twin brother played Michael. Their older sister Madylin (third from left) also played their older sibling on the show, Ally.

Fernando Colon (left) met Ariel Castro's common law wife when he worked as a Cleveland hospital security guard in 1996. Grimilda (inset) came to the ER badly beaten by Castro in his house of horrors. She and her children moved in with Colon, a police academy graduate. Two of Castro's daughters accused Colon, who was charged with 28 counts of rape, kidnapping and sexual offenses. He was exonerated on all but four charges but he is on sex offender registry. He is demanding a new trial on the grounds that his prosecution was 'driven by the deeply disturbed and highly manipulative mind of Ariel Castro'.

PBS is now investigating the show which is hosted by revered Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr (top right), who said he has 'full editorial control' over it. The disclosure comes after Daily Mail Online revealed Gates had censored Affleck's family roots as slave owners.

Molly Parks died on April 16 after overdosing in the bathroom of the restaurant where she worked in Manchester, New Hampshire. Days later, her father Tom Parks (pictured left) wrote an obituary announcing her death outlining her 'bad decisions' and asking other families who have a loved one with addiction to 'do everything possible to be supportive, and guide them to rehabilitation before it is too late'.

NEW Andrew Caldwell, 21 (top right), went viral in November after footage from a St. Louis church showed his screaming 'I don't like mens no more' and that he had been 'delivered', or cured of being gay. Caldwell claims he was attacked on Wednesday after a FroYo worker, Stephanie Diaz (bottom right), recognized him and lashed out, dousing him with his own dessert (main). However Diaz claims Caldwell demanded a discount for his extra large bowl and then called her a 'dog', so she 'lost it'. Diaz has been charged with third-degree assault.

Charles Severance, 54, who has been charged with the murders of Nancy Dunning, Ron Kirby and Ruthanne Lodato, in Alexandria, Virginia, made wild outbursts at a court hearing on Thursday. All three victims were gunned down at their homes in daylight attacks. Prosecutor Bryan Porter argued Severance should face just one trial as his writings linked the three murders. Severance's writing appeared to have a biblical connection and also included the words: 'The last scream of a victim echoes to eternity... Murder on my mind, and my mind on murder.'

Ariana Mason (pictured) yesterday revealed she had filed a $4million lawsuit against Officer Shawn Izzo and his bosses for using 'excessive force' while arresting her at The Mirage last year. Her lawyer showed a photo (right) of Ariana's injuries from the alleged attack, during which she was dragged along the floor in a chokehold (inset) before having her face pushed on the table several times. She admits to punching the officer but says she didn't realize he was with the police. Mason's aunt is talk show host Rolanda Watts.

Rachael Bishop, 19, at first pleaded with the man when he ordered her to hand over the money in the Lynwood, Washington store. When he ignored he, she punched him in the head multiple times. This is nail-biting moment a car drives directly in front of a train but miraculously survives the blow. Surveillance video shows a Sound Transit Link light rail carriage going along a straight trackway in South Seattle, when all of a sudden a white sedan veers left into its path. As the two vehicles collide, debris flies everywhere. The car is then rapidly rammed back until the train eventually reaches a standstill. A metal street light is knocked over in the process.

Volcano Calbuco, which has laid dormant for more than 40 years, suddenly erupted on Wednesday causing a thick plume of ash to cloud the sky while thousands of people living in its shadow were forced to flee the 'apocalypse-like' event. Hundreds filmed the eruption, near the southern port city of Puerto Montt, Chile, and its deadly ash cloud which caused all nearby flights to be grounded for safety. But one amateur cameraman was surprised to see what appeared to be white lights close to the enormous plume of ash and smoke rising from the mouth of the volcano.

In 19th-century America, 'escort cards' - not to be confused with the explicit sort you might imagine today - were handed to women by men who found them attractive. Collector Alan Mays has unearthed a treasure trove of these vintage ice-breakers, which bear phrases such as: 'May I be permitted the blissful pleasure of escorting you home this evening?'
