New personal best! Call The Midwife's Helen George completes the London Marathon... HOURS before putting in an ultra-glamorous appearance at BAFTA Craft Awards

For the London Marathon's 26-mile runners, just getting to the finish line would have been enough.

But Call The Midwife actress Helen George was running a marathon of epic proportions on Sunday when she topped off her day by presenting an award at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards.

Helen, 30, shed her running gear after completing in an impressive time of 04:25:54 before  transforming into a total red carpet goddess a mere few hours later.

The blonde bombshell - who's best known for her part as forthright Trixie Franklin in the BBC midwifery drama - was among the 38,000 runners to cross the finish line for charity on Sunday morning.

Helen ran for Macmillan Cancer Support and couldn't be missed in a green charity vest with a pair of brightly-coloured leopard print leggings for the long-distance run.

Actress Helen tweeted ahead of her big day: 'Today's plan- run a marathon, present a bafta, crawl into a fetal position with a bottle of champagne'

And sweeping through in just over four hours, the beauty added: 'DONE!!!! Amazing, incredible support. Thank you everyone. I cried all the way round'

For the run, Helen's hair was swept up into a fuss-free side plait and up-do but by night the fringed beauty was tressed to impress.

She arrived at The Brewery in London only a number of hours after the run looking flawless in a floor-sweeping black gown.

The dress, with detail at the hip and a satin pleated middle, skimmed over her athletic frame, acting as quite the transformation from her earlier bright workout garbs.

Giddy: Soon to complete a very long day, the actress still appeared to have plenty of energy on the night

Surprisingly, she was still full of energy when she arrived at the star-studded ceremony, which honours the talent behind-the-scenes on television productions.

Helen was giddy in front of the cameras and no doubt pleased to be nearing the end of memorable, if not extremely long, day.

The beauty proved she would be ending it in style when she told her 12.7k social media followers: 'Bafta presented, now home for a kebab #LondonMarathon2015'

Helen recently confessed that she wasn't the most Marathon-ready candidate when she accidentally signed up last summer.

'I sort of agreed to do it while I was a little bit drunk,' George told The Radio Times this week. 'Then I woke up in the morning and thought, "Oh God, did I really do that?"'

Her stamina, she says, was built up by a series of 25-minute runs, three times a week to turn her from a ballet-lover to a cross-country runner, all in between her commitments to Call The Midwife.

She added: 'It was hard because we were filming the fourth series of Midwife at the time and we’d do a 12-hour day and then I’d go home and do an hour and a half of training.

'Running 26 miles seems an achievable goal now, because my core is much stronger. And I'm a lot lighter.'

And hers was a success story on the day because she finished just 10 minutes outside her goal time of 04:15:00.

Though it might have had something to do with her evening commitments after she confessed to the magazine that she had to finish at a certain time in order to get her hair and make-up done for the event.
