But despite Porsche's unique place in the psyche of the motoring industry - a group of mechanics have been left red-faced after misspelling the iconic manufacturer's name. The owner of a £100,000 Porsche 911 was left stunned to discover the error following what should have been a basic repair job.

BMW - sponsor of the PGA championship - launches second-generation X1 'baby' off-roader with plenty of room for golf clubs
Just a couple of weeks ago, BMW was sponsoring the PGA golf championship at Wentworth. Now, it's launching the second-generation X1 'baby' off-roader (pictured below) - with plenty of room for your golf clubs in the back. And, if the new pumped up and toned look is anything to go by, it hasn't so much done a few rounds of the links as had a full workout at the gym. The first generation of the compact sports utility vehicle has sold more than 730,000 since its launch in 2009, 40,000 of which were in the UK.

A new Dawn: Rolls-Royce unveils £250,000 luxury convertible that echoes 1952 open top classic
The name was announced at the annual dealer convention in Los Angeles and it will go on sale early next year. The convertible is expected to mirror the 50s classic Silver Dawn (pictured, right) and to have almost identical technical features to the Wraith (pictured, bottom right). The new name breaks the tradition of naming their cars after supernatural beings. 'Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,' said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer at Rolls Royce.
Caught on camera - the successor to the Bugatti Veyron: Disguised supercar set to follow in the footsteps of the world's fastest car and rumored to be capable of 288MPH is spotted being tested on German road
Zooming along a German road, this disguised supercar is the successor to the Bugatti Veyron - and is rumoured to have a maximum speed of 288mph. The video - from Audo Bild TV - shows two prototypes travelling alongside a Veyron Super Sport and a BMW i8. It has been suggested the new Bugatti supercar will be called the Chiron.
