In a statement, the Chicago-based airline said the three who were taken to hospital were on flight UAL1597 from San Juan, Puerto Rico yesterday afternoon.
They were treated by paramedics when the Boeing 737-800 arrived at the airport and then taken to hospital for examination and further treatment.
The extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
A fourth person declined to be transported to hospital.
The second plane, flight UAL1774 from San Francisco, requested medical assistance, but that request was cancelled after passengers on the Boeing 737-900 said they were fine.

Turbulence is the most common cause of injury on flights and the cause of anxiety for many nervous fliers.
It’s one of the main reasons cabin crew ask passengers to keep their seatbelts fastened at all times during a flight.
In February, seven people were injured when a United Airlines plane was struck by severe turbulence while flying from Newark, New Jersey, to Honolulu, Hawaii.
Four crew members and a passenger were taken to hospital.
