Dakota Johnson dazzles in glitzy off-the-shoulder gown with her hair in tight curls as she attends premiere for A Bigger Splash at the Venice Film Festival

Earlier in the day, she had looked as pretty as a picture in a floral dress while at a photo call for her new movie A Bigger Splash.

But come the evening, Dakota Johnson was a real knockout as she attended the red carpet premiere for the flick at the 72nd Venice Film Festival in Italy on Sunday.

The 25-year-old showed off her elegant side in a heavily decorated but somehow still understated floor-length black gown as she joined her co-stars at the movie premiere.

The 50 Shades Of Grey actress highlighted her slim figure with the heavy fabric skimming neatly over her body, much of the material adorned with large, reflective silver embellishments.

Adding an extra touch of glamour and a shot of sex appeal to the garment - which largely covered her up - the off-shoulder style allowed her to flaunt some skin.

Thanks to the fetching design, she was able to show off her dainty bird tattoo, sitting high up on the back of her right shoulder.

Show off your jewels like Dakota

Dakota Johnson has become our biggest style crush since her appearances at the Venice Film Festival.

From a floral Rodarte frock to a gothic Valentino gown the actress has been pulling out all the stops, and we think this look might just be our favorite yet!

Just feast your eyes on the exquisite mirrored embellishment detail and off the shoulder style to this gorgeous column gown. It hails from Marc Jacobs' Resort '16 line which is full of similarly opulent embellished designs.

Being a Hollywood star, Dakota gets first dibs on the new season clobber but sadly us mere mortals will have to wait till this dress hits stores later this year.

But fear not! We've lined up some gorgeous alternatives to tide you over until then. Go for that futuristic thang at Peter Pilotto or take it to the max in this ethereal embroidered Needle & Thread offering.

However, at first glance Dakota was almost unrecognisable, thanks to her short brunette locks being coiffed into tight curls, a change from her usual look.

The glamorous corkscrew curls were a chic addition to her premiere aesthetic, though, as well as the seductively heavy silver eye make-up, giving an almost 1970s vibe.

It was quite the departure from her look just hours before at the photo call, which saw her with her hair straightened and wearing a pretty poppy-print dress with an A-line skirt, her make-up softer and more natural.

Dakota - who is at the annual film festival promoting A Bigger Splash and another new film, Black Mass - lapped up the attention on the red carpet as she joined her co-stars for the film's big debut.

Meanwhile the film's leading lady Tilda, 54, looked utterly sensational and far younger than her years in a stunning pale yellow gown that accentuated her willowy figure.

The lemon shade flattered her milky pale skin tone, while the cut - included a thick waist-cinching band around her slender middle, and an asymmetric draped shoulder.

Her cropped blonde locks were styled to perfection, a combination of neat and messy that worked well with her striking features, with her lips painted in a perky shade of pink.

The gentlemen scrubbed up well for the red carpet premiere, too, with 52-year-old Ralph cutting a dapper figure in a double-breasted grey suit and striped shirt without a tie.

Matthias Schoenaerts, 37, went for a more traditional look for the big night, going for a clean black suit with a white shirt and matching black tie, his hair slicked back to reveal his handsome face.

The talented group were also joined on the red carpet by the film's director Luca Guadagnino, and their co-star Corrado Guzzanti.

Also at the premiere was actress Elizabeth Banks, 41, who went for an eye-catching floral dress with a very deep plunging neckline.

The hilarious actress - who is is on the prize jury for the festival this year - made a showing off her slim and shapely figure as the dress clung to her curves, the white lace overlay trailing down behind her as she stepped out onto the red carpet.

A Bigger Splash explores the unusual tensions that unfold when a singer Marianne (Tilda) and her boyfriend (Matthias) are paid a visit during their restful trip on an island just outside of Italy by her ex-boyfriend, Harry (Ralph).

Directed by Guadagnino, whose previous credits include I Am Love, it is expected to hit cinema screens in May 2016.

Meanwhile, Dakota has recently finished up filming the romantic comedy How To Be Single opposite Rebel Wilson, Alison Brie, Leslie Mann and Damon Wayans and set for a February 12, 2016 release.

She also has two Fifty Shades Of Grey sequels in the works and she also has completed two films for release later this year.

One of them is Black Mass starring Johnny Depp in the title role, focusing on the true story of Whitey Bulgar who was the most infamous criminal in South Boston and became an FBI informant.

The Venice Film Festival runs until 12 September this year and will review such films as Everest and The Danish Girl.

The competition will feature 21 films, including hotly-anticipated roles by Johnny Depp, Eddie Redmayne, Keira Knightley, Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult.

It is part of the city's much-loved Biennale, which was founded by the Venetian City Council in 1895.
