Baroness Shackleton, a relative of Nigella Lawson, represented Prince Charles in his 1996 divorce from Princess Diana and Sir Paul McCartney in his 2008 divorce from Heather Mills.

It appears she is now adding Gallagher, 44, to her list of high profile clients.

Gallagher and Appleton's five-year marriage collapsed in 2013 when it emerged he was expecting a child with American journalist Liza Ghorbani, with whom he had an affair.

The former couple are now locked in a legal battle over money.

Appleton and Gallagher met in 2000 when Gallagher was the frontman of Oasis and Ms Appleton was a singer with girl group All Saints. The following year, they welcomed their son, Gene.

Liam also has a 14-year-old son, Lennon, with ex-wife Patsy Kensit, and a 15-year-old daughter, Molly, with singer Lisa Moorish. He has a daughter, Gemma, with Miss Ghorbani.

Mr Gallagher and Ms Appleton, 40, both attended a hearing on Tuesday where lawyers discussed preliminary issues. Today they made no comment when they arrived in court.

A judge has placed restrictions on what can be reported about the litigation. Mr Justice Mostyn said the public could be told that the pair were involved in a dispute over money.

He is due to make a ruling on what other detail can be revealed in the near future.

DIVORCE LAWYER TO THE STARS: RISE AND RISE OF FIONA SHACKLETON

Nicknamed the 'Steel Magnolia', Baroness Shackleton has been at the helm of some of the most high-profile divorce cases.

She was famously doused with water in court by an irate Heather Mills while representing Sir Paul McCartney during the couple's divorce in 2008.

Mills had gone for £125m from the Beatle. Thanks to Shackleton she left with just £16.5m, together with assets of £7.8m.

Shackleton also represented Madonna in her divorce against Guy Ritchie in 2008 and Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana and was his personal solicitor until 2005.

Despite gaining just a third in law at Exeter University, Lady Shackleton joined the Queen's solicitors, Farrers, in 1984. She rose to partner level and then joined Payne Hicks Beach in 2001.

Fame came after she handled the divorce between the Duke and Duchess of York in which Sarah Ferguson was made to surrender her royal title.

She is currently solicitor to Princes William and Harry and is a trustee of their charitable foundation.

A Tory peer, Lady Shackleton lists her interests as calligraphy, cookery, opera and bridge.

She is married to financial PR consultant Ian, a descendent of Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The couple have two daughters.
