Packing some serious heat: Jeremy Renner goes shopping for firearms buying a shotgun, pistol and machete

He says he used to have a fear of guns.

But not anymore if the contents of Jeremy Renner's shopping cart is anything to go by.

The 44-year-old was seen with some serious firearms when he left a gun store in Nevada on Monday.

According to TMZ he picked up on his shopping trip a $300 Remington shotgun, a $750 Springfield Armory XD 9mm pistol and also a machete.

It was in an interview with Playboy earlier this year he said: 'A gun is a really easy and terrifying thing to be afraid of. 

'I like guns now, but I have only a couple—a couple at this structure (where he was doing the interview) and one at another. I got good at them, and then I found a love for them.'

The actor was no doubt heading to his 16-acre ranch outside Reno to indulge in some shooting practice with his firearms haul.

He told the magazine he uses his guns for home protection, sport shooting or target practice. 

He added: 'I’m not a hunter. I spent a lot of time training for movies, shooting and getting comfortable with weapons. There’s no fear for me ever in a weapon now.' 

He went on to say he also owns a few swords, which have a lot of history, but he had hidden them away because he has a baby.

Clearly he had not hidden them away enough, because his love of firearms and weapons was one of the major issues his estranged wife Sonni Pacheco had with the Avengers star getting primary custody of their daughter Ava when the split in late 2014..

The pair got married after she discovered she was pregnant, but split 10 months later.

In divorce papers filed at the time, Sonni claimed their house was dangerous to their child as Jeremy had a gun collection which was out in the open behind the bar.

Meanwhile Jeremy claimed in legal documents filed  Sonni threatened to release intimate videos of him if he ever went back on his promise to get her a green card.
