But when her three-year-old son Tennessee needed a birthday cake, the 39-year-old star seems to have gotten busy in her own kitchen to whip one up.

On Sunday the Wild star shared an image of a lopsided spectacle - which did not look as if it was made by professional bakers - complete with dump trucks filled with mini M&Ms and orange construction cones. 'It's all about the cake,' the mother of three wrote in her caption.

The actress' son turned three on Sunday, and in honour of his special day she shared an Instagram photo of him standing barefoot in the sand, captioned with a touching message.

The photo's description read: 'Happy Birthday Sweet boy! 3 is a magic number,' along with balloon emoticons.

He had on a blue and white shirt with big blue sunglasses.

Tennessee is Reese's son with her husband Jim Toth.

The actress is also mother to two other children, Ava and Deacon, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.

Reese and Jim began dating in early 2010 after meeting through the Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

Acting and family matters aside, Reese has remained busy with a new lifestyle brand Draper James, which she launched in May 2015.

It was recently reported by The Tennessean that the company would be setting up shop with a physical store in the 12South neighbourhood of Nashville.

Selling everything from clothing to home decor, Reese recently revealed that she had set her sights on introducing bridal wear to the company.

'We're looking at children's and shoes and bridal. A lot of women want bridal. There's a thing about the Southern bride. It would be a lot of fun to create wedding dresses and I have a lot of experience with that whether it's in movies or real life,' she told Today.com.

The actress also discussed introducing Draper James in Nashville's blossoming fashion scene.

'Nashville has a new fashion scene where they're having a fashion week in Nashville. I would be interested to take it to where the brand was born and really get to the customers whose stories we're trying to tell.'

On Monday, Reese displayed her sartorial sense when she was spotted in Brentwood in two very different but chic outfits.

The actress was photographed wearing a tank top and navy skirt, as well as a jade green top.

Anna Kendrick was spotted arriving to her office as well.
