She piled her glossy dark tresses into a messy up-do, alongside her supportive other half who took control of the shopping cart.

She revealed the heartbreaking news to People on August 18: 'Yes, I have breast cancer, and I am currently undergoing treatment.'

'I am continuing to eat right, exercise and stay very positive about my life. I am thankful to my family, friends and doctors for their support and, of course, my fans who have stood by me.'

She's not only fighting the disease - which she has known about since March - but battling financial woes.

In July, the Charmed actress sold her longtime home in Malibu for $2.275 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.

She nearly lost the 3,600 sq ft property previously when faced with foreclosure three times, in 2009, 2011 and 2012.

It was revealed by TMZ last month that she is suing her former business manager's company as he had alleged not paid her health insurance premiums.

They reported that the Heathers actress was headed to court claiming that Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn & Johnson's failure to pay her health premiums meant her insurance was cancelled and, as she could not enroll until the next year, she could not visit a doctor regularly as she usually did.

Her cancer was discovered when her insurance was reinstated in March but was caught at a later stage.

According to the suit, she 'discovered that she had invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node [and] was informed that her cancer had spread during 2014'.

'[Shannen] was also informed that, had she been insured and able to visit her doctor, the cancer could potentially have been stopped, thus obviating the need for future treatment (including mastectomy and chemotherapy) that [Doherty] will likely have to suffer through now.'

The star's lawyer claims that she has been unable to work since the diagnosis and has had to pay 'significant' medical expenses.

The Hollywood Reporter added the star stated in her claim, 'In truth, the firm and former partner [Steven] Blatt specialize in fleecing actors and entertainment industry professionals.

'After gaining control of all of their clients' cash and assets, they find a way to lose it, sometimes by gross incompetence, sometimes by self-dealing and outright theft.

'Along the way, they habitually deceive their clients, going so far as to set up bogus transactions, to conceal their misdeeds, errors and omissions. The firm has hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme.'

A representative for the business management company told People: 'Tanner Mainstain is saddened to learn that Ms. Doherty is suffering from cancer and wishes her a full recovery.

'However, the claim that Tanner Mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care, or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false. Tanner Mainstain will aggressively defend all of Ms. Doherty's claims in court.'

The Memphis native is best known in recent years for her stint on the ABC competition show Dancing With The Stars, which she said she competed in in honor of her dad.

She lost her father John Thomas in 2010 at the age of 66. He had suffered a stroke in December 2009.

Shannen and Kurt married  on October 15, 2011 in Malibu.
