The Port of Calais has been closed this evening after a group of migrants stormed the harbour. Migrants broke into the site (pictured right) and have made it on to the Spirit of Britain ferry (pictured left) in a desperate attempt to reach the UK. It came after a protest organized by French leftists to support migrants living in squalid conditions in the northern city of Calais, which drew around 2,000 people, according to organisers. The protest followed a visit by British Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to the region, which is a temporary home to about 4,000 migrants camped out in hopes of finding a better life across the Channel.
