After six weeks and out of 12 celebrity contestants, Brendan Fevola has been crowned king of the jungle on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of here.

In a grand gesture, the former AFL player declared he would donate half of his $100,000 winnings to runner-up Paul "The Chief" Harragon's charity, the Mark Hughes Foundation.

"I know that I've won $100,000 ... But I'm going to give $50,000 to the Mark Hughes foundation," Fevola said after he was declared the winner of the Network Ten reality show on Sunday night.

The Aussie rules star chose to compete in aid of his fellow campmate's charity, the Shane Warne Foundation. However, a recent audit into the charity has shown that it is unable to account for a certain amount of cash donations and the foundation is due to close.

Fevola didn't mention the audit but praised Warne for setting the charity up under his name and for saving children's lives.

"Shane's charity wraps up at the end of the month but if the money was to be won by myself that money will go to a worthy cause before then," Fevola said before he was crowned the winner.

Fevola opened up in the jungle about the time he spent in rehab for drinking, gambling and depression, and said he hoped people got to see the real him while he was in there.

"I've obviously had a chequered past ... but I wanted people to see the real me," he said on Sunday night.

His campmate and runner-up, Harragon, also vouched for the winner.

"I don't know what all that fuss was about the past but he is one of the all-time greats," he said.

The two men were left to battle it out for the crown after Laurina Fleure was voted out in third place.

The former Bachelor contestant was one of the least popular members of camp, but she said she made some tweaks during her time in the jungle which improved relations with her fellow campmates and made the public get behind her.

"I polished up some things about myself and I took something good from everything bad that happened," she said.

During the final, several of their former campmates chose who they wanted to win when it came down to the final two.

Hey Hey It's Saturday presenter Jo Beth Taylor made it clear that she was in the Chief's camp. But Warne, who came fifth in the contest, put his weight behind Fevola.

Fevola developed an unlikely friendship with singer Anthony Callea in the camp, who also used his social media power to get behind the Aussie rules player.
