'It's a great life': Bindi Irwin reflects on her unique upbringing at Australia Zoo as she takes viewers on a tour of her backyard in Better Homes And Gardens segment

There's no doubt Bindi Irwin's upbringing has been different to other teenagers given the daughter of late Crocodile Hunter star Steve has grown up at Australia Zoo.

And the 17-year-old has certainly embraced her unique experience, revealing 'it's a great life' at the wildlife sanctuary in Queensland.

In a preview of Bindi's segment on Channel Seven's Better Homes And Gardens which is set to air on Friday, the US Dancing With The Stars winner is seen showing host Johanna Griggs around the zoo.

'Ever morning my alarm clock is crocodiles and lemurs... it's a great life,' Bindi tells Johanna.

Wearing her usual khaki coloured Australia Zoo uniform, Bindi certainly seems right at home as she and Johanna stand outside a wildlife enclosure.

Footage of crocodiles and other animals briefly splashes across the screen, providing viewers with a sneak peek of what to expect from Bindi's appearance on Better Homes And Gardens later in the week.

It seems filming the segment had quite the impact on host Johanna as well, who has shared some behind-the-scenes snaps on her Instagram account.

'This week on Better Homes and Gardens, back from her success on Dancing With The Stars in the States... Bindi Irwin takes me on a personal tour of Australia Zoo,' Johanna wrote next to one photo of her and Bindi posing with a lemur.

'We check out some of her favourite animals and gas bag about absolutely everything. She is a delight!' 42-year-old Johanna added.

She also posted a photo the pair chatting away in the presence of an echidna, and Johanna was quick to commend young Bindi for her enthusiasm for her wildlife conservation.

'Another gorgeous shot from our day at Australia Zoo with Bindi Irwin. I seriously love how animated she gets when she is talking about animals and her passion for conservation. Her whole face lights up,' she wrote next to the candid image.

Bindi, along with her younger brother Robert and mother Terri, is actively involved with promoting Australia Zoo and its various conservation programs since Steve's tragic death in 2006 after being stung by a stingray.

Bindi however did take a break from the zoo last year when agreeing to appear on the US series of Dancing With The Stars.

Partnered with professional dancer Derek Hough, the Australian personality went on to win the reality show.
