Sshhh Mr Cleaner, it's rock-a-bye Ronnie! Rolling Stone, 69, takes a nap at his newborn twins' bedside... as worker gives the thumbs-up outside hospital window

Being a parent to newborn twins is exhausting enough at any age.

So it is no surprise Ronnie Wood, 69, needed a mid-morning nap as he spent time with his daughters in the hospital where they were born last week.

The Rolling Stone was clearly unaware he had company – a window cleaner in a harness who showed his delight at spotting the celebrity dad slumbering alongside the twins' cots at St Thomas' Hospital in London.

It is not known who took the photograph but the veteran rocker posted it on Twitter.

Wood wrote: 'While I was sleeping with the twins' adding hearts to the message.

Gracie Jane and Alice Rose were born last week and the guitarist has spent much of the time since at St Thomas' as he waits for them and his wife Sally, 38, to come home.

Later, the rocker had a spring in his step on Saturday as he emerged from his London home for another visit to the hospital after sharing the adorable picture.

Despite the dull day, fancy free Ronnie dressed for sunnier skies in mirrored purple shades and a bright shirt, appearing like he was on top of the world.

The Rolling Stones rocker was once again joining the in-laws, Colin and Alison Humphreys, on Saturday, who have been a terrific helping hand throughout the birth.

Ronnie was seen rubbing at his eyes in a jovial fashion, no doubt alluding to his lack of sleep after becoming a father for the fifth and sixth time in his sixties.

Fellow musician Rod Stewart also found that fact amusing when he took to Twitter with a congratulatory message on Wednesday.

Tired eyes? The rocker appeared to be hiding tired peepers behind oversized sunglasses

Maggie May singer Rod, 71, had his youngest child eight years ago, welcoming his seventh and eighth as part of his marriage to 45-year-old model Penny Lancaster.

Ronnie, meanwhile, has sons Jesse Wood, Jamie Wood and Tyrone Wood, as well as daughter Lea Wood.
