Fierce battles are still ongoing in Aleppo southern outskirts as jihadi groups launched a full-scale offensive against government troops with the aim to lift the siege imposed on the rebel-held districts of the city.
The battle, dubbed Breaking Aleppo Siege, was launched today at 9 a.m. (local time) with massive reinforcements from Idlib, Latakia and Hama pouring into the frontlines.
Dozens of armed groups are taking part in the battle including Jabhet Fateh al-Sham (formerly Jabhet al-Nusra), Ahrar al-Sham, Jaish al-Fateh and several FSA-affiliated factions.
Jihadi fighters have so far managed to capture Al-Hikma School (an advanced Army defense line) after two suicide bombers blew up their VBIEDs outside the facility.
The hardline militants also seized several nearby hilltops, thus overlooking the Artillery Faculty and Assad Military Academy.
Simultaneously, militants in Al-Rashidin district burned huge numbers of wheels in order to disturb potential airstrikes.

Clear weather; unobstructed view of approaching vbieds; enemy at least 1.5 km away=SAA defenders do not have atgm’s. I guess it is a better idea to keep them in depots so they can be captured by jihadists. Simply morale defeating. Cheaping out on guided weapons = risking huge casualties and morale.

I firmly believe that the rebels have throw their last reserves of operational armored vehicles into this battle. After this fight no matter the outcome the cupboard is going to be bare in terms of functional tanks and armored vehicles. Last fling of the dice in the siege of Aleppo.
What ? Are the SAA gonna foul up the Aleppo situation ? They are too weak. It needs foreign divisions in there who know how to fight.
Is it possible time stamp these battle reports. In fast moving events, with territory changing hands back and forth, it is hard to know the right order to read the updates.
