In the summer, it was rumoured - and eventually shot down - that Calvin Harris had enjoyed a summer fling with Nicole Scherzinger following his split from Taylor Swift.

And now it has been reported that Calvin, 32, attempted to woo the former Pussycat Doll, 38, but was shot down due to her committed romance with Girgor Dimitrov, 25.

'Calvin really fancies Nicole and they did have a wild night out following his split from Taylor,' a source told The Sun. 'He made it clear that he was interested in something happening with Nicole but she was having none of it.

Nicole Scherzinger is made a comeback to the X Factor panel this year and she certainly didn't do it lightly.

The singer arrived at the show's press launch looking seriously fierce in an asymmetric dress by David Koma.

The piece was typical of the designer with its bold cut out, asymmetric and metallic details. We particularly loved the halterneck finish and silver accents which were set off perfectly with the help of Nicole's metallic sandals by Carvela.

However, the newspaper reports that recently returned X Factor judge Nicole used the Scottish DJ's alleged amorous advances to her advantage.

The source added: 'Nicole did manage to use the opportunity to get Calvin to agree to appear with her at judges’ house filming in the south of France — that was a real coup for her.

'There was no way he would have done the show if he didn’t madly fancy Nicole.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Nicole Scherzinger and Calvin Harris for comment. 

The pair had set tongues wagging back in July, when they were spotted partying together at London hotspot Tape, weeks after Calvin's split from Taylor.

In the latest issue of Glamour magazine, a defiant Nicole blasted the claims that she'd cheated on her tennis ace beau of over a year with Calvin as 'ridiculous'.

She said: 'It was all: "She’s the biggest cheater", I’m like, excuse me? I was walking on cobblestones, almost fell, grabbed him, two frames and that was it. It’s ridiculous.'

Aside from dismissing the rumours she also gushed about her relationship with her tennis ace toyboy: 'I am happy. I’m in a really good, solid, more balanced place in my life. I’ve grown a lot as a woman.

'My grandma always used to say, to find the person you wanna marry, you have to find the person you wanna work on your relationship with for the rest of your life. That’s the key word: work.'

Shortly after Calvin's split with Taylor, the pop superstar embarked on a very high profile - though short-lived - romance with Tom Hiddleston.

And it was recently revealed that Calvin and Taylor have mended their relationship - but only on friendly terms.

TMZ has quoted sources as saying that aside from Taylor has been text messaging the superstar Scottish DJ again following their bitter split.

The insiders insist they have not spoken on the phone, keeping their communications strictly text-based.
