'This absolutely kills me': Meghan Trainor cancels the rest of her 2016 tour dates due to illness

Meghan Trainor had some sad news for her fans on Thursday.

The All About That Bass songstress has cancelled the rest of her tour dates due to illness.

The 22-year-old singer posted a photo on Instagram where she revealed the news that she has been put on 'strict vocal rest' by doctors for the foreseeable future after falling ill.

She uploaded a photo which read: 'I posted last week that I wasn't feeling great, but was powering through the best that I could.

'Unfortunately, I am not feeling any better and after leaving the doctor today, I have been put on a strict vocal rest for the next two weeks.'

The post continued as she said: 'This absolutely kills me because I was so excited to see all of you on the road.

Meghan signed off her note by thanking her fans for their support and vowing to be back on stage as soon as possible.

'I'm going to go home and rest so I can get back to see you all as soon as I can. I love you so much and am so appreciative of your love and support that you constantly show me. You mean everything to me. Can't wait to see you in 2017! Love MTRAIN.'

She simply captioned the post with a heartbroken emoji.

This means she won't be performing for the rest of the year and fans will no doubt be disappointed as she had dates all over the US including Connecticut, New York City, Washington D.C., Atlanta and Florida.

The news comes a few days after the singer was too ill to perform in Boston, Massachusetts, shortly after announcing the Grammy Award nominees on CBS This Morning.

The blonde beauty is taking the doctors orders seriously as no doubt she's trying to prevent what happened in 2015 where she suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage and also contracted bronchitis.

The illnesses meant she had to cancel the rest of her MTrain tour to undergo vocal cord surgery.
