'I'm an older mother and I would just like to be there': Nicole Kidman, 49, breaks down in tears as she talks living long enough to see kids grow up 

Nicole Kidman has two young children at home: Faith, aged five, and Sunday Rose, aged eight.

And the 49-year-old Oscar winner worries that she will not be around to watch them grow up.   

'I'm an older mother, so you know,' the wife of Keith Urban said on CBS Sunday Morning. 'I would just like to be here long enough to... see my children grow up and thriving,' the 49-year-old actress cried. 'That's all I ask, and that my husband and I are with each other. Simple. Simple requests.'

When asked if it was a type of 'prayer of "I want to be here,"' Nicole agreed.

'Oh yeah, please, please! But hey, what will be, will be,' she surrendered while wiping the tears away from her piercing blue eyes. 

The Australian beauty opened up about the difficult times she has faced in recent years surrounding her father's passing and the support received from her husband of over a decade.

'When my father passed away, I was literally down, saying "Please, give me the strength just to be able to wake up tomorrow."' 

The Academy Award-winning actress confessed: 'I was shattered beyond belief at that. I didn't even know how to get up from this.'

She thanked her country crooner husband Keith, 49, as her saving grace.

'I called him screaming and crying and he was about to go on stage, and he walked off stage and he got on a plane. He'd just gotten there. He flew six hours and he was right back there and he literally picked me up and carried, pretty much carried me through the next two weeks.'

Nicole and Keith met at a G'Day LA event in January 2005 and married the following year on June 25 in Sydney, Australia. 

Meanwhile. the statuesque stunner has been busy promoting her latest role in Garth Davis' Lion, which is already getting Oscar buzz. 

Nicole plays the role of an Australian adoptive mother, Sue Brierley, in the flick, to which she has already received award nominations for.

The film tells the story about a man adopted by an Australian family at a young age who goes searching for his biological family using Google Earth.

Nicole has adopted two children before with ex Tom Cruise - daughter, Isabella, 23, and son, Connor, 21.

The couple was married on Christmas Eve in 1990 and divorced just over a decade later in 2001.
