Adele tells Adelaide crowd that she left her beloved pooch Louie at home after Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's 'dog smuggling' incident in 2015

Adele has previously called her pet dachshund Louie the love of her life.

And the singer has revealed that she was contemplating bringing her dog Down Under - only to be put off by Johnny Depp's canine issues two years ago that could have resulted in his two Yorkshire terriers being put down.

While addressing the Adelaide Oval crowd during the latest show of her Australian tour on Monday night, the 28-year-old referenced the actor and his ex-wife Amber Heard's struggles.

With over 70,000 fans hanging on her every word, Adele drew laughter from the adoring crowd as she admitted she thought better of bringing Louie with her after the 'Johnny Depp thing'.

The cheeky remark came after she kicked off the gig with renditions of Hello, Hometown Glory, and One and Only.

Johnny and Amber's solemn apology for bringing their dogs, Boo and Pistol, into the country illegally is still fresh in the mind of the Australian public.

The American actress faced charges over the incident but was eventually released on a one-month good behaviour bond and a $1,000 fine after a hearing in an Australian Court last April.

A magistrate dismissed criminal charges against Amber of illegally importing animals, which attracted a maximum penalty of 10 years jail.

She did, however, plead guilty to making a false customs declaration by ticking a box on her passenger arrival card indicating she had no animals when arriving by private jet in Brisbane.
