Feeling better: Charlie Sheen, who revealed his HIV diagnosis last November, has shared that he is feeling 'excellent' thanks to a new FDA study (pictured in February)
The drug, which he said is 'on the fast track for FDA approval' is called PRO 140 from Cytodyn, and Charlie said it is a 'game-changer.'
'There are no side effects. None. It is one shot every week, instead of a handful of toxic pills every day. It is the closet thing to a cure that we could possibly have right now,' he told the publication.
'You can live a completely normal life. You can self-administer. The other s**t, it kept me alive, sure, but it had hideous side effects - migraines, stomach problems, liver damage.'
Charlie called PRO 140 'the future,' and noted that he 'doesn't mind talking about it' because he is so confident that the medicine will 'give a lot of people hope.'
The big interview: The Two and a Half Men alum had revealed his diagnosis in a chat with Matt Lauer in the Today studio in New York (pictured)
Charlie had sat down with Matt Lauer in the Today studio in New York to discuss the disease, sharing that he'd been diagnosed roughly four years ago.
He had learned that he had HIV after battling headaches, 'insane migraines,' and 'sweating the bed two, three nights in a row.'
Charlie was subsequently hospitalized, explaining that he thought he 'had a brain tumor [and that] it was over.' However, after a number of tests, they told him he had HIV.
'Go Tribe!' And Charlie seemed to be in good spirits as he posted a playful video cheering on the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Charlie seemed upbeat as he posted a playful video in support of World Series competitors the Cleveland Indians, channeling his Major League (1989) character Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn.
'Go Tribe!' He cheered in the video - captioned 'Get me Vaughn' - which saw him standing in front of a screening of the 1989 film, during his character's big moment.
He then also talked to THR about ideas for Major League 3, which he said already has a script that is 'pure gold' by David Ward, who wrote and directed the original.
'Get me Vaughn' The actor revived his Major League (1989) character Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn in the video, later chatting with THR about his efforts toward making Major League 3
'We have been trying to get it done for a few years,' he said. 'There have been some hang-ups with the rights.'
Charlie noted that fellow stars Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen, and Wesley Snipes, among others from the first film, are on board if they can figure out the rights issues.
'We could be in preproduction tomorrow,' Charlie added, praising David's work, as he pointed out the only thing stopping them is Morgan Creek, who have the rights and do not want to do it.
