Please keep posting bugs that aren't listed here or in comments in this thread. Thanks! --- Here's a list of issues that people have reported. We'll keep it periodically updated. The goal of this list is to keep a record of posted issues to avoid duplicate submissions. This is not a promise to address every issue listed. This list also does not imply that the listed item is a bug, only that someone has listed it for evaluation. Please keep replies in this thread to bugs not listed below. Thank you! -, =, and + are just to track updates and adds for us internally. They don't correlate to anything. Movement - Sv_acceleration is set to 10, should be 5 - Slowdown when changing direction or jumping has been removed - Sv_maxacceleration being removed hurts mods - You can go very fast by strafing back and forth while running - Hugging walls makes you run fast - Movespeed was 400, now it is 450 - You may still be able to bunny-hop in beta + Request: server variable for allowing bunnyhop = Visible speed throttling after a large fall Spawn problems - Sometimes CT and Ts get the other team’s skin on spawn (not sure if client or server) Crashing bugs - If you play on an sv_pure 2 server, then go to an sv_pure 0 server, some textures are wrong and will end up crashing you Hit box and animation issues - If you shoot at a player, only the part of the model that hits first takes damage (i.e. hand in front of face) - If you run into another player, it stutters horribly all the time - If you run forward and fall, when you hit the ground you stutter - Players collide in strange ways when in water - Supposedly if a player is moving, their hitbox lags behind them still - If you crouch, your hit box lags the actual animation, and you can be shot even after being out of sight for a second Bomb - If you plant the bomb, then start running, you run crouched and players can’t hit you easily (looks very bad) - The hitbox of a player planting the bomb isn’t aligned properly with the model. - You can’t pull off a bomb while defusing w/o a major delay - You can defuse a bomb through walls and crates - It is possible to throw the bomb and hide it when you're CT if sv_turbophysics 1 is on. May be related to alt-tab during game (TF supposedly has this bug) - Bots stutter when observing in 1st person - There's a 30ms slower ping rate reported than before = Listen servers don't work Weapons - If you fire an awp, you can switch quickly from and to it and fire again. In reality, you should have to wait for the loading time to finish to shoot again. - Weapon balance is poor in CS - Elites can be spammed by binding +attack to mwheelup. Time between shots seems poorly enforced on many weapons. - Deagle there is a delay after the switching animation before you can shoot (you think it’s ready, it isn’t). Famas has the opposite issue - Shotgun ranged damage can sometimes headshot people across the map - Scout stays zoomed in after firing - SGSS2 walks slower when zoomed - Recoil is different on weapons now - Galil and Famas running speed too slow - With the awp, after 10 bullets are fired, you zoom back in to reload and you can't zoom back out until you finished reloading or switch weapons. This may apply to other weapons with scope = Request: You should have to buy ammo and reload in spawn = Request: You should only buy one magazine of ammo automatically = You can stop a player from defusing the bomb, even if he's on your team, by throwing a grenade at his head = Quick switching to / from AWP and firing a shot lets you fire faster than if reloading = You run faster now with a scout than a knife/pistol = If you start putting on a silencer in the m4 and buy fast other things by pressing b, then click the menus and get grenade, press b fast again and buy flashbang (just for example), the silencer stucks in a loop where it goes on and off unless you hit mouse2 and stop it. = If someone jumps and you hit them in the chest, it registers as the leg = 9mm sidearm has no recoil = awp quickswitch and shoot is too accurate at the moment. should be like old source Resolution issues - You can use –w and –h parameters to set your FOV to whatever you want. When the fov is high enough, you can clip through objects and see Decals - Decals are vanishing very quickly in the beta (blood, bullet marks, sprays) Scoreboard - Can’t mute players in beta - ‘O’ in font shows up fuzzy - Letters are way too small for player names - Scoreboard is too opaque – should be able to see thorugh it - Icons sometimes don’t show up for a large number of players - Scoreboard isn’t Unicode (characters missing), and all names are cap - Allow dominating / revenge system to be turn-offable with cvar for matches - Scoreboard is unreadable at low res - Latency on scoreboard cut off at 1024x768 - Stars after names on scoreboards are at random distances from names - If you join a server after it started, and join a team, sometimes you get a free MVP star without having played. - On large servers, all of the players won't fit on the scoreboard Water - Sound in water is messed up and repetitive - Movement in water is jerky - Also noticeable walking over wood planks (de-chateau top floor, for instance). More visible when crouched Objects - Players can get stuck in doors and then can’t move the rest of the round - Ladders are slippery and hard to climb - There's a rebound effect on the player on certain objects (noticeable in de_chateau for instance, the vases and barrels on the upper floor). - Smaller objects appear to flip in mid-air if you walk into them. = Spamming use on some doors prevents people from coming in Tick rate / framerate inconsistency issues - Tick rate affects how fast doors open - A player with 100 fps can run faster than a player with 30 fps - Crosshair shrinks and grows according to FPs, gives players with lower FPS a disadvantage to controlling recoil. - Crosshair sometimes expands briefly after a –attack. Should only expand on +attack. - Tick rate affects AK47 and MP5 (and possibly others) on low tick rate servers - Set fps_max to 60 at a minimum if sv_cheats is 0 - Tick_rate now locked at 66- please allow server setting to 100 or default to 100 Bots - Adding bots to server doesn’t work – have to use console commands - Bot icon always is CT - Bots rejoin when kicked - Bots say ‘bombsite C’- seems to be 1 higher Achievements / Stats - Don’t allow achievements with bots - Achievements cause noticeable lag when you get them. Should fix lag, or wait till you die to award them. - Allow achievements/stats to be turned off for a server (especially for tournament play) - Can’t see achievements from steam client - Achievement for unzoomed sniper kill awarded for knife kill - Some weapon kill achievements aren’t working - Stats seem to not save - Achievements sometimes work, sometimes don’t – it’s not clear why - Release notes said 144 achievements, library says 145 - "Win 10 round without dying or buying anything" is not working. Awarded after 9 rounds, and getting killed by your own bomb doesn't count as a death - Many achievements can be achieved if you create your own server with 1 player- all should have a minimum = Achievement date was listed as 7/30/2009 even though they just got it (killed 2 enemies with a grenade after dying) = You get "Someone set us up the bomb" even if you kill the entire team before the explosion = Request: Should only award achievements on a VAC servers with more than 4 people Audio - Changing speaker type or some audio options reset and don’t save - Awps and scouts don’t make the zoom sounds - You make noise when walking or turning in beta - You can remove public chat from filters, but not the click sound when someone sends a message - You hear other people’s kill cam sound - TF2 sounds don’t work well with CS world, sound cartoony - Applause on achievement really pulls out of the world - Allow turning off kill cam sound - Running with knife spams swipe sounds - Some sounds seem to be missing? = Sound travels through walls now = Suggestion: increase the volume / distance sound travels = When reloading a weapon, doubled sound happens for the rest of the map. (May have happened because killed opponent while reloading) Name - Name console command doesn’t seem to work anymore? Uses steam name. Camera - Sometimes when you start a round, your camera is skewed, - Sometimes when you start a round, your camera is at your feet, and oyu can see through the ground. Other people see you normally. Spectator mode - Duck for spectator menu message sometimes doesn’t show up + The minimap sometimes disappears in spectator view- may be related to dying while blind = Sometimes when spectating you see two sets of view models = Freelook when spectated is affected by the last player you viewed's crouch state = Sometimes when spectating (or respawning), you are stuck with your screen tilted HUD suggestions / bugs - Suggestion: Display number of alive players on hud so you don’t have to look at the scoreboard - Suggestion: Improve readability of hud with black border - Suggestion: UI looks too cartoony now, not CS-y enough - Match end panel blocks view for finish up kills - Can’t type at match end - There is developer 1 spam in the upper left - Fov command doesn’t work anymore - HUD doesn’t work well with low resolutions – some things don’t scale properly - Layering system UI windows makes some of them transparent - “Report Bug” off main menu doesn’t work - Screenshot not working Unable to rename screenshots/2010_05_12_.jpg to c:\games\steam\steamapps\***\counterstrike source beta\cstrike_beta\screenshots\2010_05_12__0000.jpg - Some widescreen modes or other resolutions don’t appear in video settings - Buy menu favourites always greyed out - Sometimes start map in spectator, have to pull up team manually - Domination/revenge icons too large in low resolutions - There are now two HS icons when a player gets a HS. New one looks goofy. - Sometimes the new HS icon doesn't appear - Color BG on death notices is jarring. - CT’s eliminated should read CTs eliminated - After buying a weapon from team favourite weapons, icon glitches and zooms in - Some weapons missing info/icon (may be fixed now) - F2 Re-Buy previous equipment doesn't always work, and sometimes will only buy certain item (for example, won't rebuy kevlar/helmet/defuse kit) - video settings are not saved sometimes, they'll revert to default when you close the window = crosshair colors aren't always visible, white/pink should be added + Allow turning off radio commands in chat, or make ignorerad persistent = System windows overlap and obscure each other badly = Domination icons not anti-aliased = On 800x600 you can get stuck in the achievement screen where it takes up your whole screen = In the buy menu, if you create and save a custom buy slot, the avatar for said slot is oversized and you only see a corner of the weapon. Flashlight - Flashlight looks weird 3rd person Minimaps - Bomb site labels are wrong on minimap in de_dust2, train, many others - The X where people die on the minimap has stopped working - Minimap shows H incorrectly now for hostage rescue mode - Some maps have bright green minimaps Death - Rag dolls are broken now (cl_ragdoll_collide?), don’t seem affected by shots - When players die, a player shadow is often in a location completely removed from the ragdoll - Sometimes when players die, their equipment and/or body floats - Should be server setting to specifically turn off deathcam for insta-respawn servers - Killed by invisible player death cam takes me to idle player at spawn Graphics - Bloom blown out - There are shadow issues, especially in concert with flashlight + ATI 4xx and 5xx have issues with alpha (god rays, scope mud)on 16 bit textures with dx 9.0c, due to lack of dithering support. dx9: http://i33.tinypic.com/9telua.jpg dx8.1:http://i33.tinypic.com/34e8a2q.jpg. This actually is a huge problem in competitive matches because the opaque rays hide players. (Right now req is -dxlevel 81) Specific maps - De_dust very bright + Hostages float above ground in cs_office and cs_assault - Vent reflection in cs_assault shows purple texture - Walking in chute in nuke is too fast = de_dust2 long A you can see through the wall = de_dust2 grenade throwing is messed up becaues the domes don't have a proper hit box model (same with teeth on walls) = on dust2, you can throw the bomb to unreachable places = on de_dust2 you can throw smoke grenades that only block LoS one way = some maps have 3 bombsites, but the minimap only shows A and B = on de_dust2, you can boost at the T spawn to get on top of the windows and look through the building = on de_dust2, you can't throw grenades over double doors even if it's clear air = throwing a smoke grenade directly on top of the little box in bomb site A of piranesi causes it to never go off Misc - If a player has $0 money, he can join spectators and the team again, getting $800 money. - Doors can be blocked with kits/guns/grenades - Flashbangs can overwrite each other, or have no effect - Grenade throwing animation seems off - When holding down +attack with a pistol, the crosshair slowly expands like a full gun - When you die, if you switch to spectators and rejoin a team in 2 seconds, you get a free frag - You only drop 1 grenade when you die, even if you had 2 of a type - If a player is planting a bomb and the game gets paused, the plant is interrupted - Shooting a player through a wall through a fire extinguisher negates wall attenuation of damage - There can be instances where blood can appear on a player’s face when shot at, even if they never took damage - Ts can shoot you even if you can’t see their weapon - Mistakes in Chinese translations - Bomb defuser can get +3 points sometimes even if bomb blows up. Happens near the end of bar. - Cl_ejectbrass 0-1 has no effect - Shadows of dead players appear when ragdolls disabled - Bullpup reloading – detached from bullpup itself - Player names don’t appear if a smoke cloud is behind them - Spawns cycle through the same pattern every time- exploitable by some teams - Weird screen flash when loading in beta - Suggestion: Add in animation for players with no weapons (for mods) - Suggestion: categorize maps - Suggestion: G15 support - Suggestion: Phillips amBX support - Tf_ console vears in now, do they work? - Suggestion: put back in ammo buying - If I unminimize after minimizing at 1280x1024, the game won’t come back - Request: Better MVP - Net_graph doesn’t behave correctly anymore - Multicore support stutters between 60-130 sometimes - Cheer listed in binds- what does it do? - Suggestion: Why would I want to save this moment? - Suggestion: Implement DoD or TF style crosshair menu. The crosshair can be hard to see. - Auto team balance seems broken - Suggestion: Reintroduce tagging/injury where being hit slows down a player - Shader named 'patch' from CSS is missing - some custom maps use it = Request: Server variable to turn off MVP stars on the scoreboard = Autobuy.txt doesn't appear on the client side anymore. Recreating it doesn't work. = With SourceTV enabled, the serverside fps gets unstable and drops- you have to restart server to get it stable again. I.e. server fps goes from 1000/500 to 800/300 = Request: stop people crashing the server by implementing the fixes in http://zblock.mgamez.eu/. This is not a bug, this is a big part of CS in general. Do not change this. - Weapon balance is poor in CS Please leave damage/accuracy/recoil alone. I think most people will agree. Some personal opinions I have: Enable an option called "Quake styled quick-switch" (No model animation when switching weapons) Under advanced options, add the options "Rate" "CMD rate" and "Update rate". Most.. well, noobs don't know about that option, and don't know about the console, so having an option for it in-game would help. Will post more if anything pops up! |

People always go on about how they want the game to be more realistic but when Valve chooses to change a bug in favor of a more realistic approach (forcing you to wait for the animation) they ♥♥♥♥♥. I think that shows the community's inability to adapt more than anything. TF2 had that bug in it for a while and Valve patched it so we adjusted our play styles.

Do you think that it would be possible to introduce "tagging" into the new version of CSS? By tagging, I mean the way that a player model slows down significantly as it is being shot at, effectively locking the player to the ground, exactly like in Counter-Strike 1.6. I think this could be a huge step forward for the competitive Source community, as it would stop so-called "WASDA". They are already trying to include this in the next version of CSProMod (1.05).

If you press escape during the stress test and click quit, it asks whether you want to save the game.
The video stress test seems to randomly fly through at 2-4x the speed of CSS. Other times it seems to go at half the speed. Quote:
