Leeds man turns his garden into a rainforest

Nick Wilson, 61 (pictured), was inspired to transform his garden in Leeds after falling in love with big plants during family holidays to Cornwall in the 1990s. He started the jungle make-over in 1998 and opened the hidden paradise to visitors six years ago. Speaking about his impressive project, Nick said: 'It took 20 years to put it all together. There are so many big ferns, bamboos and big leaf plants down there. 'I had no idea that I liked big, thick enormous plants so much. It was just such a difference to soft, fluffy garden plants. It's definitely a bloke's garden.

Paralympic athlete Abdullah Hayayei dies in 'incident'

Para athelete Abdullah Hayayei (main), 36, has died after an incident at Newham Leisure Centre in London this evening (below). The UEA national was training there ahead of the World Para Athletics Championships 2017 which are due to begin in the city on Friday. Emergency services were called to reports of a 'seriously injured man' at 5pm. The athlete was pronounced dead at the scene. The news has come as a tragic shock to his teammates as he was set to compete in the shot put, discus and javelin F34 events and had been training with his teammates when the incident occurred. The circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.

The incredible scenes were caught on camera by student ranger Oliver Lane, at the Umlani Bushcamp in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in Hoedspruit, in South Africa's Limpopo province. The footage shows a buffalo doing its best to fight off two lions. Together, the predators manage to drag their prey to the ground and proceed to dig their fangs into the helpless animal. But as the buffalo cries out in distress, his friends come running back to fight off the predators. Overpowered, the lions are forced to slink off without any dinner.

Ashley Murrell banished husband to sofa and found him dead

Mother-of-three Ashley Murrell, 33, had a heated argument with her husband Mikey (together, left), 36, when he returned home late from a 16 hour shift as she was worried he was running himself into the ground. Mrs Murrell, from Somerset, told her husband to sleep on the sofa on May 16, but when the beauty therapist woke up the next morning, she discovered her husband had died. She later learned her husband, who worked as a carpet cleaner, had been working extra hours to save money to take her to Prague for their anniversary on July 3. But now it has emerged that she is now in a relationship with his brother, Chris (right), after he supported her through her grief.

Adam was attending his cousin's wedding at the Castello di Montalto. He said: 'As the day went on, some of the bride's family and friends attended the pool and brought an inflatable flamingo and lobster.'

'Your house is a danger to your dog!': RSPCA order couple to clean their filthy home or they will seize their pet in shocking scenes from TV documentary 

Geraldine and Robert from Lancashire were slammed on social media for the state of their home. They were helped by the RSPCA to clean up so their pets could live in a safe environment. Their story was shown on Channel 5's The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies, where inspector Jason Bowles (right with Geraldine) visited their home to check on their dog Chesney, 11 (left).

$18m Brooklyn mansion still on the market after four years

A mansion in Brooklyn is for sale again after four unsuccessful years on the market. 2458 National Drive was built by a mob associated and is owned by a Russian heiress and is priced at $18million. It first went on the market in 2013 for $30million. When no one bought eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom home then, the price was taken down to $17million without the guest house. By 2016, it was priced at $12.5million. Now it's back on the market at $18million including the adjoining guest home. The main house on the gated waterfront property was built by John Rosatti, a multimillionaire and an associate of the Colombo crime family. In the 1990s, he sold the property for $3million when he got into some legal trouble. Galina Anisimova, a Russian heiress who is known as the mother of the 'Russian Paris Hilton', bought the property and is still the current owner.
