They were the celebrity IT-couple who regularly flaunted their high-profile romance on social media.

But the fairy tale soon turned into a nightmare for Chloë Grace Moretz when she and Brooklyn Beckham split in 2016.

Speaking to Stellar on Sunday, the 20-year-old revealed just how hard it was to deal with a break-up so publicly.

Aw, young love! Chloe Moretz and her beau Brooklyn Beckham looked the picture of happiness at an event in New York... and the picture of cool too!

'I  went through a hard year and I’m not going to hide that,' Chloë told the publication.

The actress added that her high visibility made it tough to handle the relationship falling apart.

'I had to deal with this new level of fame while I was growing up, I was getting out of a relationship and all of it was very public. I wanted to hide,' Chloë explained.

The Carrie star admitted that it was support and understanding from her family and friends that helped her navigate the tough times. 

'They were like, ‘That’s all great that you want to go away — but you can’t. You are your own person. You’re going to have to deal with this sort of thing.’ I felt like things were falling apart, like my head and heart weren’t in the same place.'

While Chloë and Brooklyn called it quits last year, they confirmed in October they have reconciled.

Since the announcement that their relationship is back on, both Chloë and Brooklyn have resumed posting loved-up snaps of one another to Instagram.

Earlier this month, the 18-year-old British son of David and Victoria Beckham shared a snap of festive date with Chloë at an ice-skating rink.

Uploading the sweet snap, Brooklyn posted the picture with the caption 'Beautiful', adding a heart emoji.

This came a day after Chloë shared an arty snap of the aspiring photographer, simply captioning it with a spade emoji.
