'It was good for the joke': Robbie Williams insists he didn't sleep with Victoria Beckham after he joked about bedding four out of five Spice Girls

Robbie Williams has revealed that he didn't sleep with four out of the five Spice Girls as previously claimed, now insisting that he bedded three.

Speaking to The Sun, the 43-year-old singer claimed that he hadn't enjoyed a dalliance with Victoria Beckham, and as Mel B previously claimed she hadn't slept with him, Robbie was insinuating that he's slept with Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner in the past.

The Candy hitmaker - who has been married to Ayda Field for seven years - explained that the long-running rumours form one of his famous jokes.

Robbie is known for announcing 'I'm very fortunate I'm one of the only people in the world that can say they've been in Take That and four out of five of the Spice Girls', during his shows.

He explained: 'That was my joke. All right? So I do this funny aside but it has ramifications, real-world ramifications for years.

'For the record I haven't. I really haven't. I said four out of five because it was good for the joke.'

MailOnline has contacted The Spice Girls' representatives for comment.

Yet then digging a hole for himself, he added: 'I think if you check records everybody knows how many it was. I've done it again haven't I? Oh my God!'

Last year, Robbie apologised for the comments, announcing on Australian radio 'It was a joke and the joke went too far.'

After his apology, Mel B was quick to speak out, explaining: 'He actually publicly apologised to me for all that mess... saying he had apparently gotten it on with all five Spice Girls.

'He wishes! I was the one he never did.'

Asked why she never slept with Robbie, she responded: 'He's a friend of mine... Yuck! He had been with my friends - I don't want sloppy seconds.'

This comes after Robbie revealed he would rejoin Take That without pal Jason Orange.

'Yeah I would. Don't know when that would be. I'm constantly having ideas about my own stuff that I want to fulfil,' he told The Sun.

'I'd like the five of us to ride again, obviously. It's down to J,' he added.

Meanwhile, Robbie who shares children Teddy, four, and Charlton, two, is on the mend after a terrifying health scare earlier in the year.

The Angels hitmaker revealed doctors found what looked like blood on his brain, forcing him to spend seven days in intensive care.

Robbie had cancelled his final two European tour dates in September after medics found 'abnormalities' on his brain and rushed him to hospital.
